I only sold this yesterday, but have posted it here as it is a rare 1997 model no longer made so members can recognize one on the road;

After approx 1998 they were superseded by the Avan Sportsliner.

Still have the High Ace Michelle, so will stick with that for awhile.

It suits my needs at the moment.  Still travelling though.

Jetj, yes they stopped making the Alite around 1998 when the Sportsliner replaced them, they were never sold in WA (the Alite) only over east, the one I had was originally owned by someone in Victoria. 

With the Alite, you can stand up in them at the business end (cooking/sink etc) which you can't do with the Weekender inside, also don't have the same facilities.  My High Ace conversion was done by Dove in Welshpool, WA, like Frontline over east they do a good job.

Duh,
I remember seeing brochures for the Avans which included that model years ago. They also have the Weekender teardrop type trailer which does a similar job.

How do you find your Hiace and who did the conversion?

Yes they are both good Jetj, having said that it is a very expensive exercise having a full conversion done and in retrospect I would never do it again but take my time and keep my eye out for a good used van with reasonable kilometres that has been kept in good condition.

I saw a 1984 Hi Ace Pop Top Campervan about a week ago for sale that was in immaculate condition inside and out and had only 150,000 original kms on it appeared to have been privately owned and garaged most of it's life.  I can't recall how much they were asking for it but I think it was about $8,000.

Milo, Tare was 390kgs and 690kgs Ag.  They do not make this particular model anymore it was superceded by the Sportsliner around 1998.

I've just done my own conversion from stuff I've bought at Garage Sales for that reason. I wanted the reliability of a newer vehicle (secondhand) over the convenience of a good conversion. I am still tempted though but reliability is my first priority. A fellow can usually work out what is wrong but a solo female not so in my case.

 You could look at the cost of just the pop top part being done, it would be a bit cheaper and with the zip windows and flyscreens be a bit cooler in summer.....that is if you think it would be worth it once you know the price!
