I'd planned to go to the show today, but as time got away from me, I drove instead of taking the train. Big mistake!
Firstly, I've lived here all my life, and know how to get to the RNA showgrounds, or at least I thought I knew. Somewhere after turning into Turbot Street, I got lost! Me? Getting lost going to the Ekka grounds? I've done it a hundred times!
Obviously I took a wrong turn and had no idea where I was. Turned on the navigator. How shameful! Finally found my way back to the Ekka grounds and there's no bl**dy parking, other than way up in Victoria Park!
So I gave up in disgust and I'll try again on Monday...taking the train!
I feel better now I've got that off my chest.

They have been advertising limited parking all week Beth, still dosn't make that any better for your experience does it, good shopping at the show when you get there.

Someone else told me that...after the fact. I haven't had the TV on much so hadn't seen any ads.
You are a trooper Beth, last year when we went we were very lucky that hubby was working for the mob who owned the pub just up the road so we parked there. We would love to see it this year but are in Mackay working, which was the plan..............can't be everywhere but happy we are here for now.
yeah, if i ever go to the rosehill one in sydney i catch the train, even tho its a 3- 4 hr trip each way pain in the butttttt but yeah its a good place to dream..
Do a drool for me too Beth. If I was down that way I would come with you.
PS They said on the news a few days ago. It is advised for everyone to take public transport as there will be very limited parking. Sorry. Must watch too much TV.
Just got back from the Brisbane Caravan and Camping show. What a great day. Was prepared to throw a tantrum if the other half would not let me buy anything. No need HE bought more than me. The seminars were really helpful. Especially the one run by tow-ed. I want to go again. Place was packed . Got $5.00 all day parking in Water St. Now all I have to do is win lotto to buy the van I fell in love with. (or) bump off the old man for his insurance .

I went to the Melbourne showing and similar problems. The company diverting and directing traffic to the 'parking' areas must have just graduated (even us coppers could do better). The guys inside the show grounds directing cars to the final 'rows' couldn't speak English and created minor traffic jams at the start of each 'row'. I cracked up laughing because there was little else to do except cry or get really angry. Wonder if the same company does all the parking for all the c&c Shows?

I couldn't even find a parking lot Keith! There's some major renovations going on at the RNA grounds, so maybe there wasn't anywhere to park!
there was no parking in the actual showgrounds. I think it was sooo packed because it was condenesed into a smaller area because of all the construction going on. No way known I be going to the Ekka this year
We went to the show on Thursday, My thought was it is a week day and it wont be that busy and there is a car park on O'Connell TCE, I thought I would get a park there if i was early, WRONG, ended up parking in a car park off St Pauls Tce, $37.00 for the day, but, the train for Sandra and I was $9 each, each way for a total of $36.00 so for $1.00 extra I wasn't too disappointed.
We had a great day but a tip from me, dont go into the big 5th wheelers untill the end of the day, everything else just looks small after that. LOL.
I do have a grip about the day, one manufacturer we were keen to look at was the Sunland make, why oh why would you take a stand at the show, display your vans and put chains across the door ways, the sales team were busy and in the end I got cranky and moved on.
Anyway we have found a manufacturer we like called Spinifex so we are doing our reserch on them.
My partner and I went on Friday, what a great show, you really need two days to see everything...my feet are still sore. We drove from the border - Tweed Heads leaving at 5:30 am - arriving around 7:15 am. Thermos of coffee and snooze in the car with the sleeping bag for a 10:00 opening. We never left the show till 5:30 pm too much to see....

Gee that's keen BBQ Barb! I've never spent that amount of time there. We've changed our visit to Tuesday now as bil wants to come and he's out west til tomorrow. It finishes at 4pm on Tuesday, and if we arrive at opening time, that'll be enough walking for me!
just a heads up if you travel by train and used a go card the free train ride becomes a paid ride as the go cards dont credit your card with the free ride but charge your card not a happy camper jan as i have been charged for the fare.

Hmm! None of us actually has a gocard anyway, so maybe bil will decide to drive at least part of the way. Thanks for the heads up excited-newbies.
