Broken Hill Racecourse

Not sure if this comes under 'budget' - but as a cheaper alternative to the caravan parks in Broken Hill I'll put it in. It's in Camps 6 NSW 1074. It's now $25 a night powered or $22 without. Only toilets, no showers. Depends what events are on as to where you can park. Have to ring caretaker before parking. Very quiet - 5km out of town.

That's about the same price as I paid in Lake View CP last year with all the amenities (might have gone up since) and I think Silverland is in the same ball park price wise.

Gerty love do your homework....best CP at BH is the TT on the way out to SA, but expensive it is.........Silverland provides excellent value.

Stayed at Silverland a few months ago. Easy access to drive thru sites, double concrete slabs, virtually no grass, casual attitude of Manager (at the shop at the front) but friendly enough. Good value and convenient location.
Cheers,
Patto

Spoke to some Broken Hillm locals when we were having morning tea on the road and they suggest the Silverton CP is better choice these days. TT is too expensive - if they put you on a grassed site or 'bigger' site. The $30 sites are so small you can't even put your awning out. Other one has had a few breakins.

Alan and I are currently at Silverland. Very large sites, only $25 per night. Only disconcerting thing is the notice on the back of the amenities door advising users to keep the door closed because of snakes. There is, however, a shovel in the laundry which I expect is for despatching said snake. Laundry facilities are good.

RaceCourse in BH is $15 per night unpowered. (14/05/13). Showers are available. Book through the caretaker. Tanya & David. Also, see WikiCamps for photos & comments.

If you go to Wikicamps. The closure in Oct 2013 was temporary for a large race meet. Many Wiki campers have used it in Jan. 2014.
