The dreaded Colonoscopy

Yes, I know it's not a nice subject, but it has to spoken about.

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis is '98, so I've had many Colonoscopies, the latest of which was today.

I don't know the full results yet, but my Specialist said it wasn't as it should be, so back again in 6 months.

I just want to remind my fellow GN's to go and have the tests if there's any suspicion.

 Are you sure you're not going deaf too Pam? I said it wasn't as it should be.

The procedure itself went smoothly, I was out by 10.30am, but he wasn't happy with the results. And if he's not happy, I'm not happy. cry I'm to see him again soon, with the test redone in 6 months.

I'm really sorry Beth....I clearly read what I wanted to see...("was" as it should be...not "wasn't"). cry

I hope that it doesn't turn out to be anything too serious.

I must be going deaf in my eyes.  I think I need them tested after that mistake!!  confuse smile

Beth my son who is 39 had to have 1 on Tuesday ( the same day Hubby went awol ), he suffers from acute diverticulitis like me and it was precautionary but everything came up good, I am sure it will be the same for you...........just chill.

Thanks Pauline.

The Ulcerative Colitis has been under control for several years now, although during that time I've had polyps removed a few times.

My Mum had Diverticulitis and I think my brother has it, but under control.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) of any kind is so debilitating.

I'm not going to stress about it. I'll talk to my GP once she receives his report.

Pete, I've lost count of how many I've had, being diagnosed in 98.

The only drama for me is getting someone to take me and collect me. I don't like to be a nuisance, but someone is always willing to play taxi for me.

The procedure itself is nothing because you're sedated, but the prep is yucky. Need to have some barley sugar or something to suck on.

I'm sorry things are not what they should be, but the upside is you only have to return in 6 months. If it was more urgent it would be dealth with now.
So your attitude is right. No point in worrying about "what could be", when you can celebrate "what is".
Good for you girl!!! And you're not a nuisance. Someone loves you enough to help you. You're very lucky.

Beth I agree with Chris if it was anything bad they would have acted immediately,  I had a colonoscopy 5 yrs ago and within a week I was receiving radiation and chemo before surgery 6 wks later for bowel cancer.  You need to ask them to explain to you what it is they're not happy about or you are always going to worry, they should have explained it to you at the time.  My doctor told me to always write myself a list of questions I want to ask before I visit my specialist that way I never forget things I need to know.  Take care smile

 He would have told me if it was nasty, I've been going to him for 11 years now. I suspect it was just inflamed. It was only because I was still groggy I think. I'll ring my GP in a couple of days, she should have received a report by then.

I just realised a couple of days ago what could have caused the inflamation. A couple of months ago, I started taking CQ10. After a while I was having some diarrhea, and wondered about the Q10, stopped taking it, and it went away. So I asked my chemist, and he said yes, it would have been the Q10. Not to say it would affect everyone like that, but it was no good for me. So I suspect there was some residual inflamation. I guess I'll have to confess to my GP.
