Can anyone tell me where I can get an avan caravan key cut please? None of the locksmith or key cutting people have the right keys to do it. Do I have to go to the manufacturer? And how much do they cost?
Thanks
Tess
You've just about answered your own question. I'd say going back to the A Van dealer or manufacturer would be your only way to go. I have a Dometic lock on my van and the keys are easy to duplicate. I don't know what is complex about A Van, but give it a try with the dealer first, if close by, or contact A Van by email and ask them. Good luck with that.

Even Jayco keys are difficult to duplicate Granny. ALWAYS keep a set of originals in a safe place! The blanks that key-cutters use arent the right shape, but we had some luck with a locksmith who managed to cut a set, even though one of them still doesnt fit quite perfectly. Try the Avan people or an Avan dealer, Evie and Rhys, if you cant find a helpful locksmith.
Hi Tess, If you still have troubles, just ask them for a blank key type (SILCA/Lockwood/Yale/Whitco) and profile number. PM me with the details and I will try and source and send you a couple of blanks. I have a good mate who is a locksmith.
Hi Evie n Rhys, I have an Ovation M3 2008, and one of my keys will not operate the locks. It is obvious that the key is worn on the tip. A'Van cannot help me, saying those very words. I have been surfing the web and found several companies in UK who may be able to help. The problem is that these keys are ONLY cut in the factory and I can't find that factory. Give me a couple of days as I'm going to put the hard word on A'Van before I go to the Ombudsman. They will not tell me the names of their suppliers O/Seas - all their parts come from there, only the outside walls are made here. I can get replacement locks but they're not as secure and I need 7 of them. Trying for cheaper deal first.
Well would you believe it...... sent that email to A'Van, and almost immediately came the reply that keys would be available next week and they were sending the ones I had requested.
Gotta eat my words...... Sorry..
Might suggest an email direct to their customer relations man Ian Stott..... ians@avan.com.au and keep a spare around, they're bound to wear. Don't know price as yet.
Received my keys today from A'Van, fit perfect. Original OEM.
Ian at A'Van has most numbers available $28+GST+postage, and I'd suggest that all A'Van M/H'ers get a spare while they are available as there is no other suppliers in Australia.
email: ians@avan.com.au quoting your number off your key.
