Blue's BP was constantly 220/195 until they found the right "c.o.c.k.tail" for him and it was all a bit trial and error but finally they did and now it's always around the 125/70.

Take some time out for yourself Lilly and do as the doctors suggest.

Those figures are all too high lilly. The doctor probably wants to put you in hospital so he can sort out you meds to get it right.
Obviously the script you are on now is not doing the job properly. Get it done asap.
I get mine checked occasionally at the chemist. They give you a card and record your BP each time you go in.

Wooo Lily - get them to sort it out quick smart - those readings are way too high.  I have low blood pressure so no problems for me but I would be doing anything they say to sort this out.  A change of medication to something new maybe just what you need.

Low BP can be just as serious as high BP Es.

My BP always falls dramatically under stress and have passed out on numerous occasions and I was told that it can actually have a very severe effect on your brain.

Low BP is difficult to control. I used to suffer with low during pregnancy, causing the spins and wobbles.
Then in my early 30's I developed massively high BP which I suffered until 2008 when they removed a faulty adrenal gland with an andenoma. I also had severe potassium deficiency.
Please do as you're told in this case, or you may cause yourself to suffer a stroke. Not saying you will, but the combination of uncontrolled hypertension and the worry you are causing yourself could be worse than the high BP on its own.  It's in your best interest to take the time to participate in the tests necessary to stabilise your BP.
BP does not necessarily lead to stroke, but it's a contributing factor.
I'm not a Dr but I'm extremely experienced in all things BP for the last 30 years.
Oh, I don't have high BP anymore and my potassium was restored to normal 12 hours after the op.
Medical science is a wonderful thing. We are lucky to be living in these times.

I wish you all the best, and please, please take it easy until you have a result.

The low blood pressure could be a pain when I was pregnant - the wooziness etc, and I hd medication for it in the end.  But now it usually doesn't cause much of a problem although there is very occasional light headedness for a short period.  Many years ago I had a small day procedure and afterwards the nurses told me I couldn't sit up or get out of bed until my blood pressure had returned to normal.  I asked what it was at the time and when she told me I told her that it was normal for me.  I could have been still laying there waiting to get up to her "normal"!!

Mine drops dramatically after an "op" to the point that they have a crash cart on standby.  Last of it dropped to 62/48

My mother has had bouts of low blood pressure. Usually it is remedied by getting her to drink lots of fluid.

I to suffered with very high BP it took a while for find out what was wrong with me but in the end it was a blocked carotid Artery I would suggest when having your annual doctor health test to get your doctor to test your neck with his stereoscopy It not something they do, I had to have an operation. And when I have to see a new doctor they always ask me how did my doctor find that

That doesn't seem to have anything to do with the cause of BP. I was fit, early 30's, busy with my business and umpiring about 4 hours of Netball every week, walking every morning.
I was also a single mum of teenagers, running my own business, suffering migraine headaches. BP pills stopped the headaches and stabilised my BP, 220/140.
Almost 30 years later, and after hundreds of tests it was discovered my potassium went missing within 3 hours after I'd eaten. Just about everything we eat has some potassium, or vitamin K.
The trouble-maker was a faulty adrenal gland with a benign tumour. Medical science removed it and my BP was normal in 3 months and I was and am still off BP bills. The potassium was normal within 12 hours of surgery, or by the time I really woke up.
If all goes haywire the kidneys get damaged. The surviving adrenal gland is coping very well on its own.
I wouldn't know what happens if you can't take the medication to bring your BP down, but I guess you are destined to have high BP as normal. Just keep up the water and healthy living.

Lilly31 Sometimes docs will want to put you in hospital to see what your bp is like in a rest situation. I know mine always goes up when I go to the doctors but is okay when at rest at home. Maybe good to idea to have that time in hospital to find out what is going on. Glenda

Have they done any kidney tests on you Lilly.  I know that when there is a blockage or similar in the kidney/bladder system it can put your BP up significantly.

My friend was on BP medication for 25 years. Then she retired and was on the first trip around Aus in their big M'home when she needed to see a Dr in Darwin for something else. He took her BP and it was normal! He said its probably the reduction in stress now that shes retired and on the road.

Have you tried meditation eg Yoga. Then some exercise such as walking, steady stroll, no aerobics.
Our body is a wonderful machine, and we don't know enough about the bag of bones we sit in.
Medical science is working very hard to research every possible thing that comes up.
I used to monitor my BP 3 times a day, and every time I took it I'd do it 3 times and average it. I'd get a different reading every time.
Then when I go to the doc it would be up again. It's called "white coat syndrome".
Three or 4 deep breaths and it's normal again.
Hang in there and stay coooooooool.
