We were in at the van yards yesterday and they were advertising that he would be at Prestige Jayco at 9 a.m this morning. Getting as much advertising out of it as they can.
We were back in this afternoon at the repairer next door. When asked he didn't say it had drawn big crowds.
Probably should have gone in and stuck a Grey Nomad sticker on his motorhome ( If I had one.)

lol. They are calling him the Happy Camper. He has been given the Jayco m/h for 6 months sponsored by Jayco Geelong. Heading to Qld first to see his brother Jim. Written on the back of the van is Father Bob so you can't miss him.
Good on him, I hope he has a great time, he deserves it, I and many others would love to catch up with him. It would be a great happy hour that's for sure and plenty of belly laughs.

There didn't seem to much of a crowd around as he was interviewed. He went for a test drive with someone from Jayco while he worked out all the bells and whistles.
Hi Vic, he is a very well known and liked Priest here in Victoria and is on Radio every week and TV a lot. He has just been forced to retire by the head of the church and a lot of people are very upset and annoyed about it. He does a lot of charity work and is going to continue with that. Someone, I can't think who, is setting him up in a shop front and he will be living there as well, unless he enjoy's his new motorhome and changes his plans. We here in Victoria wish him all the very best.

That is one motorhome I hope I come across. Would love to have a long chat with him. Good on him, hope he enjoys his time on the road and Im sure he will spread a lot of cheer along the way. Your right Marj it does look like Johnathans, I wonder if he can sing as well as Johnathan?? Probably more of a dancer I would say, the poor devil has been ducking a weaving to keep his work going for years now. It is encouraging to see there are still some human faces in the church. Good luck Fr Bob. Tess
I love meeting GN's. We are such a diverse lot and so far, I haven't met one that I didn't like.....but I would LOVE to meet Father Bob....that would be a real treat. Bet he'd have some interesting yarns to spin while sitting around the campfire.

Bells on the motor home? Now I'd like to see that. LOL
Maybe we could Google him and find a contact for him, and entice him to the Grey Nomads forum.
I hope he has many kms of happy, safe travel.

any ways off my soap box... and hope i havent stired up the plot or place or what ever...

No offence taken HW, religion had already been mentioned prior to my post, eg; the church had treated him badly or something, also that he was a priest, no religion should use this as a platform for their relgious title, good guy or not, but Bob sounds good to me.
Anyway, if he does join us I will still treat Bob as any other Grey Nomad or as I would like to be treated, sorry if I reacted a bit but it touched a raw nerve, if nobody has been in that situation then they are not qualified to comment on it.

I have just this minute rung Jayco Geelong, the lovely lady told me all about his visit there the other day. She said he has his own website www.fatherbob.com.au so will now go looking for it. She said she was having a look on it the other day so it must still be up as he uses it for his charitable work as well.
Esmerelda, he doesn't rate a mention in WA, so how am I supposed to know?
Sheltered life? Me and my siblings spent time in a Catholic orphanage and were badly abused, so no fond memories of that organisation and no respect for anyone in it, I don't care who they are.

Hope I haven't offended you in any way Vic. Totally understand where you are coming from. I am not catholic and not very religious because of the poor treatment of so many over the years. This guy is a real character and worth inviting to the grey nomads. Will keep away from the religious side of any conversation on this.
Sorry Vic - I assumed that everyone had heard of Father Bob because he is such a well known identity - especially over his forced retirement from the Catholic Church. Also not a Catholic - too many horror stories for my liking. Chris Riley is a NSW priest who does extraordinary things with young people, mainly homeless youth.
Cheers, Helen

It aint over until the fat lady sings, and I dont feel like singing just yet!
No worries Esmeralda, another one who did a lot of good too was Father Brian Morrison
There are a few good ones out there but the rotten apples far outnumber them and they are not just a few, there are and were many of all faiths or non faiths.
On the Catholic side, the brothers and nuns had some bad eggs among them too, I am not Catholic bashing, there were many others from different faiths/govt etc of the same ilk.
