Brrrr... negative 3 degrees this morning - at least that is what Weatherzone said for Wangaratta. Here in Bright/Porpunkah, I am sure it was closer to -5 when we peeked out of the curtain at 7.45 am.

Mt Hotham, Bogong and Feathertop are looking spectacular dressed in snow.

I feel sorry for those of you still in South East Queensland. I use to shiver through negatives going to work from Jimboomba in another world. Now I can just sleep through it until the sun surfaces above the fog and the frost burns off.

Hi K.J.
I guarantee some dill would still be stupid enough to try to drive through the road n the pic you posted! Dunno if those who try such antics think their cars can swim, but I hope they can - I also hope they get charged for the effort of emergency services to come out and rescue them.
Cheers

G'day Dave,  unfortunately you never seem to hear about these idiots being charged,  more's the pity,

maybe some example of a very large fine might have some effect on these fools ??

Hi guys, have seen some idiots in my  trip on the 'big loop road' too, but was told about an incident at the Birdsville races one year when the 'rain came down'.  Apparently the Police closed the roads in & out at one point.   The word around got around that any driver who disregarded this advise and managed to bog themselves, it would cost them $1,000 per tyre ( including caravan tyres) to be rescued!  biggrinbiggrinbiggrin              THAT SURE GOT EVERYONE'S ATTENTION!!!  Common sense comes at a price sometimes hey!    Gwynnie floating.gif

Complex frontal system about to drench the WA coast, again....

Mon 2/7/18

A cold front, low and trough currently traversing the Indian and Southern oceans will arrive at the WA coast overnight, and this front is soaking up a lot of moisture on its journey. By midnight Tuesday, some parts of the coast between Denham and Albany may have collected well over 50mm in the rain gauge.

The system as a whole is expected to generate powerful winds as it crosses southern WA. Damaging gusts greater than 90km/h are a high risk from very late Sunday all the way through to Thursday.

By Thursday, as the system has moved away to the east, parts of southwestern WA may have picked up 60-90mm of rain. Some of this will fall as heavy rain and showers, possibly leading to flash flooding.

If you happen to be travelling at the moment,  Be sure to keep an eye out for severe weather warnings.

Sunshine here today in Brisbane with a 35 km/h south westerly blowing. Temp is 22 degrees. Not too unpleasant if a body can get out of the wind. Safely ensconced in the van and on the computer, so all's good.

Hail blankets parts of Sydney as NSW hit with thunderstorms...

Hailstones have pelted down in Sydney and beyond, blanketing some roads, as severe thunderstorms swept through parts of New South Wales.

The Princes Highway at Waterfall looked as though a snowstorm has swept through, with the road covered in hail and ice.

Wet weather spreading across WA...

03/10/2018

Rain and storms will affect the southern half of WA during the next three days as a low pressure system sweeps across the state.

The low will move towards the south near the state's west coast on Wednesday, causing showers and storms develop over the inland Gascoyne and the state's South West Land Division. The low will also cause blustery winds near the coast as it moves south.

The wet and windy weather will arrive in Perth from the afternoon and continue into the evening, before spreading into the state's far southwest on Thursday morning. As of 11am WST on Wednesday, a severe weather warning was in place for damaging winds gusts in and around Perth during Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

This system is likely to bring rain to all of the state's western and southern districts and parts of the east Pilbara, Goldfields, South Interior and Eucla districts between now and Friday.

Parts of the south coast, wheat belt and Goldfields could receive 5-15mm of rain with the passage of this system, with isolated totals above 20mm likely. This could be the heaviest rain in about 7-8 months for parts of the Goldfields.

Take out there People !!!

Just starting to warm up enough, to discard my trousers, and wear my shorts

Should hit 28/29ºC in the next two days, and then go down to around 20ºC for a while, fine and sunny weather predicted

It was a wee bit warmer than that here in Perth on Friday Tony,

The mercury hit a top of 35.9 degrees in Perth on Friday afternoon, which is nine above average and its hottest day since March.

Gave the air con a good workout, I can tell you !!

Bunbury has always been a bit cooler than Perth, KJ

Perhaps because Perth is surrounded by hills

It was warm here yesterday (Friday), but we did not start the aircon

I do know from experience that in the old money, 100ºF in Perth, always seemed hotter than Bunbury at 100ºF

Perth today will be 27ºC while Bunbury will be 25ºC according to BOM, and we are only about 200 kilometres apart

Do you live anywhere near 4 Harvest Terrace, West Perth, by any chance, KJ

biggrinbiggrin I have read a report, (unconfirmed of course), that there is always a lot of hot air, in that area biggrinbiggrin

Had to Google what was at Harvest Terrace,  Now I know why it's rather warm at that address. rofl.gifrofl.gifrofl.gif

Thank God we live South of the river, where the Air is nice and clean, although not that way at present,

Smoke from the fires down South has given us a heavy smog and with high humidity, a very unpleasant day.
