Camping dumpers!

The Headlines in our G/N is  disturbing......

It is so true~  Why!  Oh  Why!   do ordinary people turn into utter pigs when it comes too camping. We noticed it at Greens Lake.So unfortunateMy belief is that some use it because tip fees are way too high and that the greedy councils have bought it on themselves.Just Yesterday a Mattress was dumped in the Aldi  Parking areaThat wouldnt have happened a few years ago.I fear for the future of the free camping. And yet it can be beaten The Pigs I meanStart taking number plates of the young Hoons that do itRangers and Council workers  should patrol more often than sitting in offices getting a fat arse....

How say you all?

Jimbo

Yeah, I agree. I'd have no hesitation to dob in a dumper or hoon if I could see their number plate. It would make camping a scary experience, having all that around you.
Different subject I know, but we have trouble with hoons in our street, they all think this is Summernats Street. If we or any of the residents call the police, by the time they arrive the mongrels are gone, only to return an hour later for more burn-outs..

jimbo, the problem with dobbing is the local council ranger will say, sorry we have to see them ourselves, otherwise its deemed to be hearsay, what a load of crap council's are.

In victoria. we do have anti-litter laws, and i believe that any citizen can report litter or rubbish dumping, there is a Hotline No' to ring, but you must fill out a form with all relevant information, Time, Place, Reg No etc, etc, the goverment body will send the offender a fine, However if they deny the offence they are taken to court, and it is expected that you will attend to give evidence which [ as i can understand ] not many would be willing to do

Yep this chicky can real grumpy when I come across gross dirty pigs, the worst was round tennant creek, and Elliott.
Its so upsetting when you pull up somewhere nice and rubbish is lying around, babies disposable nappies, flies everywhere.
Saw some council workers the other day about 6 all standing around and having the longest smoko break on record.

Gday...

Yep - gits my dander up as well. However, this is not a new phenomenon. It was happening in the 60s, quite probably before, and as we all know, definitely since.

It is part of human nature (the part I abhor). It is not just stuff as detailed above. Walk ANYWHERE in the bush, no matter how isolated or hard to get to and there will be Coke bottles, chip packets, cigarette butts, plastic bottles, take-away papers etc etc etc.

Way back in the 1980s when I first went to Uluru (Ayers Rock) we climbed to the cairn on the top - there were heaps of drink bottles, papers etc all over the place. They can carry 'em up full but can't carry 'em home empty. furious furious no

Dunno the answer - been the bane of my life for as long as I can remember.

(down orf me soap box now - silly grumpy old man no)

Cheers

John

well it's happening more and more in Van Parks too, people bring a half a house with them and leave half of that behind when they check out.
I am a groundsman and they leave mattresses and BBq's etc , things that wont fit in the bins and , guess what?????? I have to find a way to get rid of THEIR S3HIT. I am so over these people that think the world is their oyster. What ever happened to good ole Aussie behaviour, we have these bronzed Anzacs that put babies nappies down the toilet and block up the whole Parks Sewwr , geez do they do that at home .... I don't think so

Yep i am becoming a  grump too mate

If you see these people doing this , have some courage and go up to them and say would you do this to your home.most of them , usually say they are are ashamed, and do the right thing. Then you get the assole , who want to fight you for saying the right thing.A couple of pics with the phone camera puts them off, usually.I always carry a hardwood hammer handle for the others..........( also a shotgun for recalcitrants). You should NEVER be scared of doing the right thing. Bill

Ban the damned disposable nappies and get back to the real cotton ones. They end up much cheaper over the 2 years the kid is in them, and they're not hard to wash.
I don't know why they sell nappy soaker when no one soaks nappies.
We didn't have all these fancy things when our kids were babies. We didn't even have nappy liners, and when they were available I didn't use them. I just washed the nappies and hung them out at night. The night air removed the rest of the stains and they were always white.
The world seems to be everyone's toilet, not just the bloke's. Truck stops have lots of "wet spots" and it can be stinky in the morning air when I wake up next to th truck. It's worse when I wake up next to a pile of human excrement.
I use a dunny digger when I take the "rolls" for a run. I bury my waste.
On the last trip we pulled into a truck parking bay north of Roma. Bewdy, I thought, a toilet - an enviro long drop. But Oh no!
Someone had ripped the hinges off the door, and everyone else had used every corner but the seat provided. The stench was horrific.
I don't know who has to maintain these things, but they have my sympathy.
Do people live like this at home, or do they just turn feral when they leave the gate? Yeah, I know, some do.
It's hard to be proud to be a human when I see this stuff.

Mrs W and looked into becoming DEC camp ground supervisors, when we received the paperwork one of the jobs was to keep the toilet's clean at camp grounds that had them, for this reason only the paperwork went into the rubbish bin.

Garbage problems are everywhere, some people just don't give a damn. Most of the rest areas we pulled up in (Vic) and probably every state, had rubbish left behind but the worse thing I noticed being female was the used toilet paper littering the ground. Come on women folk, doesn't take much to take a plastic bag with you and put your tinkle paper in and dispose of with your car or van garbage. Have a bit of pride in yourselves!!

I think most people do the right thing but once again the one's that don't get noticed more because of the rubbish they leave behind

What do campers do with washing up water which contains fat and small pieces of vegetable matter most times.I have seen some places where people have parked and left grey water waste and during hot weather bring the blowflies around. I cannot understand why caravan manufacturers don't put grey water tanks on like motorhomes,I have had 2 vans now and both have grey water tanks so I can truly say I leave no trace.

We ALWAYS wipe off plates and wipe out any pans etc., with paper towel before they are washed.  No bits and pieces going down our drainage hose.

True, true, Wombat and then they quote the "privacy act"....and then the courts dont won't to know about it. All the onus and cost is imposed on the person doing the right thing.

I don't know. Check out some other sites... wink

But seriously, yes the tissues left behind bushes everywhere you go, even around the King's Canyon Rim walk they are everywhere. As for dobbing in dumpers, a couple of times we have reported piles of houshold rubbish dumped around local bush and beach spots and let the council know that there were envelopes and paperwork with person's names and addresses on them. Whether the council followed it up who knows, but it p*sses me right off seeing such places littered with someones garbage just because they are too lazy or too stupid to do the right thing.
