We of the never never

I just seen the Movie We of the Never Never we recordeded it from the Tv  but missed the begining so have ordered  it from the ABC shops and even tho we were in Mataranka  and took these photos in the park, it sort of got more meaning to me of the story DSCF0887.JPGDSCF0889.JPG

We recorded it also &  half watched it yesterday & will probably watch the rest tomorrow. We were in Mataranka a few months ago ourselves.

I hope you dropped into Bitter Springs, the bathing in the hot spring there is nothing short of luxury.

Cheers

Jon

Bought the video last year.  Remember the story from way back in Primary School.  Love the movie

My grandmother was a Gum, there was a name change from Gunn around the time of 'We of the Never Never' and there is an early autographed copy of the book somewhere in the family archives.

Cheers,
Peter

I've done the springs AND the Mataranka Pie. Now that's a pie!

It is a long time since I was at Mataranka but it was lovely and no doubt has changed and become more commercialised (it was in the late 70s), also went to the Elsey cemetery.  Definitely not a statue to be seen - must go back on the "to do" list.

The book's better than the film, but I enjoyed it anyway.
We spent a few nights at Elsey NP (with mosquitoes an inch long!) but Mr D had a sudden health problem so missed Mataranka and the Bitter Springs... its on the list for "next time".
