I paid 15.00 for my 4kg at franky's ice in Echuca, so yes Jimbo I think it is a ripoff.
Mind you, it depends where you go. Bunnings charge 24.00 for a 4kg swap and go.

Swap & Go always works out a lot more expensive than a refill, we try hard to avoid them but sometimes they are the only option in town.

I usually head for a camping store, usually cheaper as they want to get you back in the store again. CP's, servos Bunnings and swap stops are on my list of no no's! I carry 2 x 3kg bottles so I don't have to fill up straight away.

There is a heck of a lot of difference in prices all round. From 14.00 to 36.00 is ridiculous.
I will check out the camping stores here but as they are all down the port with difficult parking it would be heavy carrying of the cylinder.

Don't know where you are in WA wombat, I am in Onslow & a 9kg refill is $45, so when a friend was going into Karratha shopping I thought I would get them to get a refill cheaper while they were there. Well yes it was cheaper, it was $40. This is after paying $17 at BCF Darwin for our last one. Go figure. Every one keeps blaming freight costs, the freight business in WA must be extremely good, or am I just dreaming. Unfortunately when you are traveling you have few options. You use it (gas) so you buy it when you need it.

$36.00 at Murgon in Qld. (less than 200 km from brisbane) I told them I would rather eat cold baked beans and wash in cold water, $17.00 for 9 kg from BCF when I got back to Brisbane furious

about 60 klms south of Perth, there is plenty of competition here so that could reflect on the price, but $45 is a bit much, I also run two bottles so if the price to too expensive in one town I wait until we get to a large town and it is usually cheaper, I always ask the price before I fill up, and would never use those swap n go ones.

I'm not sure where the GST and price control ever met or where the prior plethora of taxes managed price control either.

Price control is normally about competition and where no competition exists then people can charge almost what they like.

Personally, I would rather pay the $45 than eat cold beans, do without my morning coffee and shower in cold water, but we do carry two 9kg bottles so that eventuality is unlikely anyway.

Be interesting to know what the price of Auto gas is per liter in areas that charge $40/45 for a 9Kg gas refill.

The realistic part of this is what is the price of the gas inthe local area? Eg here localy gas is .72cents/ liter. 9Kg cylinder 18liters of gas $12.96. To my way of thinking this is going to be about the minimum that could be charged here localy, before you pay wages etc for some one to fill it. Since i live in the country you cant realy compare prices to big city prices. Before people say the gas is different, here its the same as the car bulk tank as both tanks are filled from the same tanker. When i questioned the tanker driver he said it was all the same.   Just filled the car up & checked Swap & go $35. local gas place $35 to fill 9Kg & they are the only 2 places in town

The service station in Blacktown, last year to fill 4k bottle $26.00

I let them know what I thought of them and what they could do with their gas in future .( Get the price first ) I am not usually so gullible.

This garage has been on tv selling cheap petrol. Would not go near them!

Dick.
