Men's Shed

During a recent stint on a cattle property one hour south of Winton, Mr D started to make one of those gas bottle bbqs that a lot of fellow GNs appear to be using on the road, utilising whatever he could find in the station's shed.

We left the property early than anticipated, moving back to Winton for a couple of days.  The Winton "Men's Shed" were more than hospitable and helpful when we approached them to use their facilities to complete the project.

Thanks to the Men's Shed, we now have a useable (but still not quite complete) gas bottle bbq.

Are you using it as a choofer or a BBQ....a 4.5qt camp oven can fit inside a 9kg gas cylinder..some use it as a brazzier...

That's what we do Dave and also the frying pan fits snuggly on the top as well.

Works like a treat.

Mainly as a BBQ, but who knows what we will need next winter!  Our smallest camp over fits into the gas bottle perfectly.

Having a roast chook tonight in ours - done in the camp oven (4.5 one) and it comes out so succulent. Had to get a 9kg bottle for a friend so he too can make a cooker. Because of it's 'looks' we call ours 'Cosmos'.
