Curtains for Myrtle. Great buy.

I BOUGHT NEW CURTAINS FOR MYRTLE TODAY!

I got a real bargain today, can't believe my luck. Popped into one of the op shops here thinking I might pick up some ready made curtains for Myrtle and save myself a bit of time and money.

Was thinking of buying a curtain, shortening the length and using the bottom half for a 2nd window.

There they were. The colour I was looking for, light green to match the kitchen one I just had made which cost me 67.00, for tiny window. Ready made and lined. 5.50 a curtain. All I have to do is shorten them.

Bought 3, when I got back to the van and looked at the windows, rushed back and got the other 3. Cost me 33.00 for 6 curtains, enough to cover all windows. Don't even have to make up the bottom part of each curtain and can even leave them a bit longer than the ones there now.

I am very pleased with myself.

Edited to minimize the shock!!

I have nearly finished one curtain, just have to hem it then it can be hung up.

Hope to have them all done by then Tess. Most of them will be anyway.
Heading out to Greens Lake tomorrow to say hello to Jimbo who will be staying there a couple of days, also may catch up with JazzinAround who is doing markets over that way, Numurkah, Shepparton. Then she will head back to Greens during the week to rest up.
And anyone else familiar when I get there.???
Also bought a little purse for my MP3 from Dick Smith 14.95. I can't stand the ear plugs in my ears so bought this little case that carries it, with a plug, cord, and speaker on one side. Bit bigger than a cloin purse. Looks good, only he forgot to tell me it needed 2 AAA batteries so will go get them tomorrow.

I love "op" shops - I had an acrylic 'glass' in the van and hated it and as most nice glasses come in 4's I went to the local op shop and got a lovely crystal glass for $1- lovely to drink from. I'm a 'recycler' from way back.

What a find...curtains are so expensive, it is nice when you stumble across some good one that only need a little alteration.

You had me worried there too Marj.  Glad it wasn't what we first thought.

Don't you just Love Op-shops ?   My latest find [yesterday] is a 12V Black and Decker Spotlight for $2, still in its' box.   I'm sure it will come in handy when I finally get going.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Gubby, the citrus cleaner. (Orange) is working on getting the stripes/glue off the side. Will take a while but it is working. Have bought new decal vinyl stripes in silver and purple to put up when I have her clean. Thanks for the suggestion.

Marj, don't know what exactly you're trying to get off the sides, but I read in a book of cleaning tips I found yesterday, that to remove Rego stickers, paint with Nail Polish Remover, and leave for a few minutes. Will peel off easily.

This might work with Decals Too.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Its the old stripes that would be original. Have a lot of it off , some pealed off easily and some, well broke all my nails. A lot that is left is like a glue residue, with still a little bit of a brown stripe.
The orange cleaner seems to be working with a non scratch mesh scourer.

Yep, have gone through a bottle of that too. It made it a lot easier to peel the actual stripe. The different colours have taken different ways and means of coming off. One pealed easy, one scrapes off and one leaves a glue residue. 3 different browns.

Good for you Marj! Doesn't it feel good to achieve those finishing touches as you like them?
I made the curtains for my van. I borrowed a sewing machine and away I went. The curtain maker wanted $19 a drop - yes, that's right, $19 a drop for van curtains. They charged the same for a house curtain drop.
It's a great sense of achievement to do it yourself, especially if the price is right. Glad things are working out for you girl.

Thanks CG. I paid 67.00 just to have the one behind the kitchen sink/stove replaced when the old one shredded in the washing machine. Was only about 60 cm in length.
So to get these ones at 5.50 each and only have to shorten them. Couldn't be more pleased.
