i'm in a pickle,, so to speak

confuseoh may not be the place to air this but anyway,,,,,,,,as i have decide after our recent trip that fulltime grey nomadding isn't for us just yet, maybe in a few years time,, but for the moment it'll be a month here and a month there and so on,, with that in mind i've decide to add to my toy collection,, not here in lies my delemma,, i find myself in a position to either buy a road bike (900cc) sort of a harley look alike but with out the price tag of a harley or a boat,, now the bike would more or less just be for myself,, the bide isn't all that much into bike although she said she'd go for a cruise on it with me every now and then but as i said it would mostly be for me,, now on the other hand we have a boat, something to use on the murry river which is about 45 mins from our home here in adelaide,, i said i could get 1 that could be used for skiing,, not that i ski, as well as a bit of river fishing and just plain mucking around with,, have a family get togeather  picnic once a month or somethig when the weather is good,,i asked the kids what they thouught and ,, "can we borrow it"" was the reply,, well no you can't "oh well i guess a picnic once a month or so would be ok" was the reply,, dam kids always want what they can't have,, so now i'm torn between getting something mostly for myself or getting something that maybe the whole famlily might get a bit of fun out of for awhile,,,,noconfuse

Get the boat and when the kids ask 'can we borrow it', answer "of course you can, so long as we can come with you". You will have some great family days, or they will stop asking. Ha Ha.

have storage,,,have licence,, fuel yeh ok rego yeh ok,, looking at a package with all the "saftey things" and already have a 4wd as a tow vehicle,,, and as for towing bhind the boat,, anything that floats i guess......would need fuel and rego on a bike as well so that isn't really a concideration

Gosh that is a difficult choice, we have owned a big Harley Road bike and a sail boat, they both offer different fun. Our daughter gets sea sick and didn't like the boat too much, although we did do some fun times on it together as a family...The Harley was loads of fun and she liked hoping on it with her Dad, to be dropped off somewhere.

I think you should buy what you have to have...and enjoy it. It is a fun time to be able to buy fun toys....good luck...

Cheers Sharon

Go the boat BB. You'll have more together time with your bride, whether or not you invite the kids!

it's to fill in time until we work out if we want to be full time nomads or just part timers,,, have decided to go with the boat,, looking for a ski boat to "bomb" around on the river with which is only 45 mins from home,,, the kids all think it's a great idea,, just have to find one we like that's in our price range
