Fire-watch Website.

Heard on the ABC Radio this morning about Bushfires in Lawn Hill NP.   Every-one's been moved to Adeles' Grove for the moment, and the fire is being monitored 3 times a day.

Heard about the following Web Address on the same programme, so here it is, for any-one interested.

You can check on Bushfires anywhere.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Great advice Sheba. That's the risk of travelling in the dry season. Please don't enter bushfire smoke. Don't take the risk.
A vinyl roll-out awning doesn't offer any resistance to hot embers and sparks, and neither do caravans. Those embers and sparks can attach themselves to the underside of the floor and you know what happens then.
I had an experience with a bushfire while towing the van NE of Fitzroy Crossing. I didn't know where the fire was and the smoke caused a total black out. I couldn't see the white line. It happened very quickly. I had headlights on and hazards flashing and somehow made it throughs safely, unscathed. Take care.

It's the tail end of the dry season up there, when the country is its driest. I imagine there is heaps of fuel up that way after a great wet season and some rain during the year.
Lightning strikes and other means ignite bushfires. Some are caused by human intervention.
Until the rains it's going to be a tinder box.
