Hi JC

The Shire of Three Springs in Western Australia is currently proposing to set up an Eco tourism Park that will provide a unisex/disabled toilet with a dump point. The park will be a transient and free to the public.

Hello JC. Thank you for your email regarding lack of camping areas across the state. We are very aware of this problem and have already been looking at providing some Nature and Transit based parks across the shire on suitable Council Reserves. We actually have an agenda item going to Council this month recommending to Council that we write to the Minister for Local Government seeking his approval to develop camping areas on a number of council reserves that are within 50 kilometers of existing caravan parks. Most Councils that have coastal sections along boundaries are aware of the ever increasing pressure from travelers for alternative camping areas to caravan parks. The State Government is also aware of the growing issue and is currently contemplating rescission of Regulation 49 of the Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Regulations 1979 that restricts development of alternative camping areas within 50 km of existing caravan parks as it is non-compliant with the National Competition Policy. not sure if its the shire of coorow, three springs or perenjori. there is a camp at arrino that has a lot of nomads staying the night, only a toilet there though

Now! If only Victorian and Qld  would allow more....I know there are some....But too few free camping over night spots on the main Roads.....As is I use Truck stops for the night if travelling far........Being a Solo nomad...

Will that introduce the problem that Councils will be required to charge 'economic' fees for parks that are presently transient and free to the public, ie., fees that are not 'subsidised' and do not compete unfairly with private operators? Or will the 'traditional' policy continue to apply, that such parks and facilities are supplied FOC as part of government's community service obligations (it is not considered part of the Council's business enterprises)?

Just wondering if there is any trap for later with all of the 'user pays' around and government is interested in increasing revenue.

 Hi Vic, Yes I did...glad you like it,  a little fishing village near Venice, I painted there for a day. It was wonderful...houses were painted bright colour's so when the fog comes in the men can find their way home.

Hi Sharon
Yes Wa is a great place to visit. Apart from the free camps the National Parks and State Parks offer very affordable fees with good facilities. Most have campfire pits and supply fire wood. If you intend staying for a while and visiting a number National Parks a NP pass is worthwhile.
