Has anybody tried the gps that comes with a reversing camera built in. They are selling 7 inch versions on ebay for about $150. My van is a big box and a camera would help.
Yes Bill I bought one and it works fine but the camera is not easy at first to use, I suppose that if you have been reversing caravans and trailers it wouild not be so hard but for me everything is on the wrong side. So I reverse into the location as before but use the grid system to tell me how far still to go.
The Hi Ace has a back step and behind that a bike rack so it is not easy to get the distance right but the grid system allows that to be done more easily.
It has lots of other options too it plays music, plays FM through the car speakers, plays videos, has games and is an Ebook reader.
Yes, it has many possibilities. I probably will buy one as soon as I pay the regos, and they all seem to come up at once. Another toy to play with. Good fun.
Yes, sadly. I ordered one from helomolto and some features didn't work (Bluetooth, reversing camera). I returned it paying postage both ways ($20+) and it was returned to me with a brief comment that both worked: They didn't. I asked for further instructions, they gave me instructions for a totally different area. IMHO they are dodgy, do not respect the warranty, instead fobbing you off with "return it and we will repair it", but having wasted one lot of postage I do not trust them to throw more money at something they should be properly covering.
You get what you pay for with these GPS's, get a Garmin and you will be ok, don't forget it is an extra to get updates for life, that is the life of the unit, not your life.
A few of the more high end GPS's have an A/V input that will accept input from cameras available on Ebay. I just fitted one to my Troopy that I use in conjunction with a Navman MY75. I did have a couple of issues in that I had to fit a different sized connector (2.5mm stereo phonejack) to the video lead that plugs into the GPS and I also had to open the camera and flip the sensor board around because the picture was upside down. This was fairly simple to accomplish by undoing 4 small screws in the camera body and rotating the board then resealing the housing with a dab of silastic. So for $40.00 it wasn't too bad.
