Hi Guys, I am a new member & would like to ask for some advice from you seasoned vets of the highways. I am thinking of purchasing a reversing camera from E'Bay. its a 7" GPS with a wireless reversing camera built in, I am looking at one from a company called "Autoproz". I'd be grateful for any advice about this. Thanks
Hi Ed, Welcome to the forum. If you look at the top of the page you will see 'search' - type in reversing camera and you get all the info you need and then some!! Not many recommendations for wireless cameras as they tend to get a lot of interference especially in towns. I got mine from Aldi ($99) and wired it to the tail lights. That way I can use it as a rear view camera simply by turning on park lights.

How do you find it wiring to the parkers I have heard that some purely designed reversing cameras don't like to be powered up for extended periods because of the heat build up. Noted any problems with yours

My rev camera in the tow vehicle is wired to the rev light circuit. The camera in the van is wireless 2.4G, it works well as the roof of the van is fibreglass (pop top). As for interference in towns i find it is only fleeting & doesnt worry me.

My Van camera is also wired to the park lights, had my on for extended times, like crossing the nulabor or other long straight section of rd as my wife can also monitor the camera so we have more eyes behind us. cheers blaze
Just re-read your original post, I missed the GPS bit, I purchased one of those units some time ago, sounded good at the time, don't think it was the same company, but the one I got could not have the maps upgraded so check that out before you purchase.
Also the one I got was only a gps, if i were you I would get a good Garmin or other make of GPS and a stand alone reversing camera.
Sounds like you only want it to reverse onto your van or for reversing out of your drive etc is that correct?
Hi Wombat. yes I just want the camera for reversing out of the drive & into caravan spots, and as my present GPS is a bit out of date it seemed a good idea to buy the dual use job
now I have found the search button.....:) I have been told it is the Federal Law that all caravans must be fitted with a reversing camera - does anyone know about this? WA is supposed to have just passed it but a definite in Queensland...... help ...before the electrician rings to say he can do it tomorrow!

Just a word of warning about the cheapie nav systems on eBay... they're pretty much all junk, with maps that are out of date and not updateable. A nav system is something that you're really better off paying the extra dollars for a brand name. If you want to do it on a budget, then get a basic, quality system locally and then go to ebay for a separate wireless reversing camera and display. If you don't want an extra display on your dash then you could get a mirror mounted screen.
