Daniel Morcombe.

Just heard, an arrest may be imminent in the Daniel Morcombe case.  At long last those poor parents will be getting closure.

Cheers,

Sheba.

We live in the area , and it has been a long time tragedy .

Plenty of people here believe that the police know who was responsible , but lack that little bit of evidance that will clinch the case .

If what you say is correct , they may have found it . Thank God .

What a blessed relief for those poor parents - now they can truly say goodbye to their son, hopefully.

I hope this low life scum gets exactly what he deserves inside. What annoys me is we the tax payer have had millions of dollars wasted by doo gliders so that these grubs can be housed with like minded animals in flash set ups. This baaastard deserves a slow and painful death !

I doubt whether the parents can get closure and say goodbye to their son due to the arrest of an alleged offender.

The only way they will get closure is if they locate the poor buggers body and they can lay him to rest.

Yes i agree Dunco they need to find his body so they can laid him to rest..As for the parents and his family i do wonder if you ever get closure in situations like this ... I am  not sure if i ever could ..unless you have to go throught a nightmare of this nature you never know how to handle it .... And god willing let hope we never have too

Thanks for that one Lily.  Hope you don't mind, but I saved it.  Hoping it doesn't take too long to find his remains. I just hope they have been given a correct location to search, as there are hundreds of acres of Forestry Plantations in that area.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Feeling a bit wierd right now.  Just saw shots of the search area, and heard the name of the Road.   You can see Nut Trees in the background.  Looks to be very close to one of my Fathers' Farms.

Bad enough when things like this happen in the general area, but this is a bit too close to home.

I know how you would feel Sheba. About a month ago I was looking through the NZ news online. There had been a stabbing in my hometown. There on the front page was my old house. I can tell you it was quite a shock.

My sentiments towards whoever committed this alleged evil crime is no different to those of any other decent citizen but be aware that this matter is now sub judice and the person arrested is only alleged to have committed this alleged crime and is is legally presumed innocent until a jury may determine otherwise.

Remember that this is a public forum (searchable by Google) that can be read by anyone and care should be taken to not to make potentially prejudicial comments.

The person has not been named and has not been named in this Forum, so there is no issue. It is only if you NAME the person and as his name has not been released, there is no problem with prejudicial comments.

I cannot see any comments above that would cause any trial to be dismissed for a retrial. It is not wrong to call the offender in this case a Mongrel as we do not know who it is at this stage.

I really feel for this family but sorry, I don't feel for anyone that lives nearby as it didn't happen to them. This case is such a tragic one and we should all be hoping that the mongrel that is guilty of this matter looks into their soul and reveals where they disposed of the body, if that is the case. Then, the matter would be finalised for the family.

Totally agree with you Dunco, the problem is the cops do the hard work and the judges sxxt in their faces, how the cops do that job is beyond me.

It was easy to do Wombat....as it was always good to catch a crook, lock them up and take them to Court. The Cops know they did their job and they are sometimes disappointed if a small Sentence is handed out to the crook, but they know they did their job.

I was involved in some high profile ones that DID get a decent Sentence and that "sort of" makes up for the bad ones. The worse thing is that the crook gets out early and adds their mongrel attitude back into the decent society.

Jim,you have made fair comment and I trust that members of the Forum who read your comments will understand them.It is even more to the point now that the accused has made a court apperance and has entered a plea of not guilty.

Jimricho, Whilst I understand your comment I also understand that as a general rule the cops don't go around locking up innocent people. In this case there has been some 8 years of Intensive Investigation going on. Everything else is kind of pale in comparison to what this monster is alleged to have done. As for innocent people being locked up I would dare to say there's more guilty people that hAve walked due to crap technicalities rather than the other way. There too much offender rights in our society ENUFS ENUF TO HELL WITH THIS MONGREL GUTTED HEAP OF ****E !

The Sunday Times (WA) - 14th August 2011

This was in our Sunday paper in WA, written by Glenn Cordingley, Legal Affairs Editior.

A long article so I will only type some of it as reported in the paper;

A dangerous pedophile who lived in WA for a year and left the state just a fortnight ago was charged with the murder last night etc.......The 41 year old former truck driver, known only as P7, was taken into custody in Brisbane yesterday afternoon and charged with the murder of Sunshine Coast Schoolboy Daniel Morcombe, 13.  He was also charged with deprivation of liberty, child stealing, indecent treatment of a child under 16 and interfering with a corpse.  (The article goes on to give more detail about the investigation/parents etc)

Assistant Commissioner Anticich (WA) said the man had lived in WA for about a year (he goes on to say that WA & Qld police had been cooperating on this for quite some time, but it is now a Qld Police investigation....etc, etc.

.........................................................................

There is a sub article on the same page by another Sunday Times Reporter Paul Lampathakis who met the man charged with Daniels murder in a caravan park in the Eastern suburbs, he writes;

"The big friendly smile that greeted me in a caravan park in April gave no hint that the man I was facing was a convicted child sex offender.  Lean, tanned and long-haired, the man looked more like an aged rock star than a pedophile.

The 41 year old former tow truck driver eagerly shook my hand and greeted me with a friendly "G'Day" after I tracked him down to the park in Perth's eastern suburbs.  He had come to may car after I had asked for him at the front desk.

But an evil look quickly crossed his face when I told him I was a reporter for the Sunday Times and that I wanted to speak to him about his involvement in the case surrounding the disappearance of 13 year old Daniel Morcombe in Queensland on December 7, 2003. He told me "I'm not interested in talking to you or anyone else."  He then strode away towards his caravan.  The next I heard of him was his arrest for the murder of Daniel.

I had tracked him because he was at the centre of the high profile coronial inquest, being held in a Brisbane court that month into Daniel's disappearance.  His presence in WA was only publicised because the Sunday times had revealed earlier in April that he had allegedly slipped under the radar for seven years until the inquest into Daniel's fate.  "

Can some one please tell me why this man can not be named?

Who's rights are being protected here? certainly not Daniel's
