Hi to you all that have your laptops or even a PC on-board.
While we recently enjoyed a wonderful stay up at the Mareeba Rodeo grounds, and also having the great pleasure of meeting the amazing jonathan. I was amazed by the amount of folk who had been at the mercy of so called computer 'Experts' who, had charged small fortunes for doing little more than mess up their machines.
Although some insist that I should charge 'Mates Rates' for cleaning up the sort mess these 'Tinkerers' left for these vulnerable folk, I prefer to see their joy and pleasure of a job they feel I have done well for them instead. Plus the fact, I live in the hope that if our paths cross again and there maybe something they could do for me, it will be on the same friendship basis.
If you ever need to clean up your machine, and we are not there to do it for you, there is a 'FREE' program I always install on the machines I have brought back to life, and it is very easy to use. Just Google Glarys Utilities, this is a brilliant set of tools for keeping your computer running smoothly and trouble free. If you need help with how to download and install the program, by all means PM me for guidance.
Please Note. I have no personal affiliation with this company and nor do they sponsor me in any way. There are several other similar products available, but in my many years of building and servicing computers, this suite has always been a winner.
Edited for 'Typo' errors only.

.. I go along with all Dave has said .. and that Glarys Utils is a great set of tools .. but I especially agree that you contact Dave (or others your know) if you have any doubts about how to use these utilities .. while their main functions are very good, just a little bit of knowlege can sometimes get you into trouble .. and .. its quite amazing how much windows 7 can be improved .. so new users of windows 7 .. enjoy
All the best Dave .. I'm currently in Victoria .. but slowly heading north to NSW
Thanks for that info guys - have a friend who is very knowledgable with computers, and he always checks mine for me when he visits. Never mucked anything up yet. But your info is good to know. And thanks for the offer of help pb

G'day Dave and thank you for your information regarding computers, the program you suggested and your offers of assistance: there are many members here myself included who can only be rewarded by such offers. (and I have no doubts such favours would be returned if we can help you)
I started using it [on Windows XP] after reading about it on another Forum Wombat. The Guy who recommend it used to maintain over 1,000 business Computers, and this was the Programme he used.
I use the first one, but it doesn't have "Pro" on it. Maybe because I'm using the Freebie.
Cheers,
Sheba.

I got my copy from the Giveawayoftheday site, that's why it says Pro, get them for nothing, you have to download and activate programs in a 24 hour period, and you get to keep them for free.
you can download and install and sometimes activate, just read instructions that come with the daily give away program, I get an email every day and go to the site about 1500 here in WA.
With the downloads I usually leave it until the next day and read some of the comments before I download a program in case people are having problems with a program, when downloading you sometimes have to give your email addy to get the unlock code, I steer clear of those ones, also you have to watch b4 downloading that they do not put something on your pooter along with the give away, just untick any extra options.
You have to download and install or activae the program within 24 hours of it being posted online, todays give away is interesting.
there is also a site for game give away, but I don't bother with them.
Oh dear. I really don't like creating conflict. As I have over 20 years in computer security, I cringe when I see people spruking computer security on forums. I believe this person has very good intentions. However, I do have reservations about what is being said.
If anyone would like an alternative view, please feel free to PM me.
Gordon, everybody has their own opinion about everything but it seems you do not want to share your's with everybody, only those that pm you, don't be scared you are also entitled to your opinion.
This program looks pretty good and I will trial it to check it out.
I use another program called Tune Up utilities that I have been using now for about 3 years with no issues and I am very happy with it
I think I see where Gordon is coming from Wombat.....I never let ANYONE play with my machine that is not qualified, so some bloke in a van park would NEVER touch my laptop
Sorry folks, whilst I have been on here to do some quick reading, just been quite busy and haven't had time to post.
Sheba, you have PM.
Some of the problems I have with 'free' software, is they don't have the scrutiny that your larger profit companies do. Who really knows what this app does. Do you know for a fact that it is not collecting your daily surfing habits and not sellling this data to some company?
Also, whilst an offer for free help does sound good, especially for people who struggle with pc's, there are some issues to be concerned about someone offering free help. Do you really know that person? Are you 100% what he is putting on your pc is what he really says? If you're not confident in pc's, he could easily be putting a data logger on your pc and you wouldn't even know it.
To me, this particular post really sounds like a sales man coming in off a horse selling a special vinegar that will cure all your ailments. His intentions probably are innocent enough, but again I wouldn't let someone just do all kind of work on my pc that basically stores heaps of very personal information.
As an example, recently we had to have our laptop sent back to vendor due to some fautly parts. I completely wiped my hard drive so they didn't have a snoop around to see what was on there. As a side note, erasingy our hard drive does not really erase, it is rather easily gotten back for those who have that sort of mind.
.. Must agree with you Wombie .. we're so lucky to be able present our own opinions .. sometimes though, ones credibilty and respect are just taken for granted, and not earned .. and it shows in their performance ..
I like this mouse Avatar Wombie .. think you can take it away and do a job on it for me .. need an unshaved look with a coupla bandaids .. Marj didn't like this one .. so need to do some mods to keep her happy ..
Hi all. I looked at this setup, thought it looked okay and downloaded it. The computer wouldn't let me into my documents etc but would let me on the internet. Next up I can get my documents etc but no internet. Third bite of the cherry and the computer lets me turn it on but that's it. Said my hard disc is stuffed. Took old faithful to the computer doctor and $97:00 later the windows was contaminated and a full harddrive. I don't know how as it was only 50% used before this. Anyway she's back now with the download uninstalled and going a little faster. I'm considering asking for my money back. Well, that's my bitch for the day. Bye all, Havago.
