Well done and good for you. What in particular are you seeking info about re the Nullarbor? The southern right whales should still be up at the Head Of The Bight almost ready to head south with the young ones. The wildflowers should be starting, as the wattles are already blooming around Adelaide. The prevailing wind is W/SW, and you may be punching your way across, but you'll have a tail wind to make up for it when you come back. The only roadhouse you may prefer to miss is the Nullarbor Roadhouse. There's no roadhouse at Yalata. Hasn't been for several years, but it's still on the maps because of the Aboriginal Community near there. I suggest fuelling up at Ceduna before heading west. If you're interested you could check out Penong Salt and Gypsum mine and the famous surf beach, Cactus at Pt. Sinclair. Will you be going straight across the top of Eyre Peninsula through Wudinna, or would you go via Port Lincoln, Elliston and Streaky Bay. An interested detour well worth the look if time allows.

Re the Nullarbor Roadhouse. If you look north from the roadhouse about half a km away you will see the old outbuildings and garage that are left over from the original Nullarbor Station. Some history there.
thanks for the replies ladies and gents this will help us decide what to see ,do and way to go .were thinking of going straight across then coming back via streaky bay port lincoln ,tumby bay way .will try and keep you informed as to where we are and what up to. hope we can meet up with a few fellow nomads over the next few years all being well . thanks again pophog
Make sure you plan your meals to take into account that you will lose all fresh fruit and veg, plus honey at the WA border on the way over, which is a long way from the next supermarket at Norseman. Coming back east you lose it all again, but at least the SA mob have the decency to put their quarantine post at Ceduna, so you can restock again straight away.
On several Nullarbor crossings (most recent 2007), we have found the cheapest diesel to be at Penong and Mundrabilla, also the fuel outlets at the eastern approach to Port Augusta. If you are able to do a night away from 240v power, the camping facility at Cactus Beach is unusual and one we love.
We have on past trips, overnighted at various of the caravan facilities attached to the roadhouses and found most adequate. Probably the best were at Border Village, Balladonia. We really like the caravan park at Fraser Range Station.
If you do follow the Eyre Peninsula coast on the return trip, I would recommend Streaky Bay and Coffin Bay as worth staying some time at. If you decide to stay at the main caravan park in Port Lincoln, be advised to go and inspect the site you are offered before committing and paying, as some parts of the park have really small and uneven sites.
Enjoy what we think is a wonderful and interesting drive. We have done it 5 times now and still not sick of it.
If you go down the coast from Streaky Bay and Elliston, check out Sheringa Beach, between Elliston and Coffin Bay. Unusual reefs and rock holes right on the beach. You can free camp down there as well. Enjoy the seafood the region offers as well. Prawns, oysters, tuna, whiting, and stuff.
