Alice Springs

Any one going to alice springs would recomend the Gday mate caravan park. Very frendly good sites and lot cheeper than the big 4 that is just across the road. Stayed in the park for 4 months while working in Alice . Good one even for a night or two as you travel up through

I second that HD.  We stayed there last year and found a nice clean little park.  Amenities are a bit dated but very clean.

Staff couldn't be more accommodating and friendly.  Will stay there again that's for sure

Short walk to the Heavitree Tavern for a coldie and/or a meal. It's a few years since I was there and there didn't seem to be any problems with the locals in that part of town.

We stayed at Heavitree to this year and found it cheaper than the rest and a good fish chip meal at the tavern no problems at all

We stayed in G'day Mate for 3 months last year. Had the Port Lincoln parrots coming down and eating out of our hands. Think we won the award for being the most photographed in the Park. Attracted many overseas visitors and kids. Left a jar of seed with Dave (the owner) when we left. Lovely park, very relaxed and lovely clean amenities at a reasonable cost.

Also agree with Jimricho, fish and chips at Heavytree gap tavern on Friday nights is great. Even comes wrapped in paper.

Our Aunty owned Pitchi Richi sanctuary opposite Heavytree and we help with working bees when we are there. She has given it to the Alice Springs Heritage Inc. and now lives at the Old Timers Retirement Village.

Jules,

The Date farm no longer operates. It was sold to 3 parties. The Caravan Park bought a third and extended. A swimming pool company bought the corner area, and the Hari Chrishna bought the building. The date palms are still there though.
