.. arrived mid afternoon at Manangatang .. Its an overnight freecamp in town (the only one) .. and prob the best value I've ever come across ..
Hot Shower with own toilet and baby-change facility (if you need it) built in .. also separate toilets for general use .. a small area for seating which also includes 'active' 240 v supplied .. and last but not least ..
(2) x 15 amp power sockets for over night plug-in use ..
all totally free ! .. it is in Camps 6 .. not sure about other versions tho ..
Good for you Marj .. however .. now in the early hours of Monday morning and the diesel trains have become active .. unfortunately, there is a lot of shunting going on about 100 mtrs from where I'm parked and is still in progress an hour later at 6.00 am ..
I think now I know why there has been a concerted effort to get travellers to use this location.
For me its ok .. I'm an early riser .. so just having brekky before heading off to Naracoorte in SA .. my intended destination and where I'll be for the immediate future .
Still think this place is a good choice ..It may not happen on all mornings ..
We stayed in a caravan park in Hughenden - and the rail yard was across the road - at about two o'clock in the morning we thought we were being attached by fighter pilots - "*clang-clang-ratatatratatratatratat-clang!!" for the next three hours!!!!!!!!! We had paid for this privilege!!!!! Certainly didn't stay there next time through, that's for sure! (*That was the sound of the carriages/containers being shunted - with full overhead lights!)

If you stay there lock up all your possessions as there's a few ''indigenous folk'' loitering around with not much to do except show interest in visitors.
