Fuel Treatment & Engine Flush Treatment

When I get my vehicle serviced, I always have these items on the bill as extras;

Fortron Engine Flush $12.50,

Fortron Fuel Treatment $12.20

My question is are they really necessary or just an added expense not required.  I may say that it is a matter of trust that these above items have been added/used as well, how would you tell.

Other items added to the bill also are;

Worshop Consumables $8.80

Sump Plug Washer  $2.50

Environmental Protection Levy $10 (I think that is to cover disposal of the old oil).

will destroy the ecomomy so enjoy the travels while we can still afford it

I'm just wondering about the need for the flush/fuel treatment Ken, I think it is a rip off but if it is needed then ok, but I do wonder.

Regards Enviro matters, we'll all soon have special undies to convert our methane gasses to harmless gasses if things keep going the way they are.  wink

Complete rip off, my vehicles both have done nearly 300,000Kms & still going well without what i call Value adding to increase profits. The garage i worked in also charged $10 EPA levy which i dont think actually exists. & also charged workshop consumables even this is questionable,like what are you consuming? $2.50 for sump plug washer more like 50cents as they buy them in the 100s.

Trouble is many do it, i've been a bit slack and only just noticed what they have been charging me for, usually in a hurry and just pay my bill and don't look at it........must take a bit more notice of things going on around me confuse

Yeh thanks Wombat, like they would only use one clean rag per vehicle, I think not!

Paper towel ok, but how many sheets per vehicle?   Oh, and kitty litter........furious

 Might be a good idea to ask them about the consumables.

It might be that they put the "Buisiness Overhead  %"       on the bill as "Workshop Consumables"  !!!! Just a thought.

When I was in buisiness my overhead was 16% added onto the total cost of Materials.      My overhead was all the running costs that you incur  to run the business.

E.G. Rent, Power, Rates, Rubbish Disposal, Hand Cleaner, Envelopes, Stamps, Pens, Paper clips,  Insurances,  Mops, Buckets,  Toilet Paper,  Soap,  Tea Coffee, Milk,   Safety Equipment.

Well off the top of my head, thats just a small list.   You get the idea of those overhead costs that are part of the business. The customer pays for this as well.

My overhead % was tiny I think being a "one or two man band".

I would be interested to know what "Workshop Consumable" is related to.

Regards

Mike

I'll try to find out next service Mike and Ellie.....the usually have one of their wives (two man partnership with employees) or another lady answering the phone and doing up the bills in the office, printing them off etc, so office expenses would be up there with the rest.
