Well I have to say its not as warm here as it usually is guys. But the wind is stifling that at the moment.

We have a great site under a lot of trees so its nice and I got to try the air con out for the first time today, it works.

Lucky buggers.....do the Casino trip (free bus pick up at the C'Park in the morning and return 3PM in the afternoon, ask at the park, I know they do the others)......Well worth buying the voucher in the Casino, covers smorgasboard lunch (all course and soft drinks/coffee) and other freebies plus some gambling credits. I think it was $25 each but well worth it, with their credit I won $160 which paid for my lunch and that was after some play time on the pokies. Also free drink at the bar, free coffee, free Keno ticket etc.

We are not gamblers but it was worth it......and all in airconditioned comfort with magnificent views over Fanny Bay.

We just spent 11 days exploring Kakadu NP & are booked into the Top Tourist caravan park in Palmerston on the south side of Darwin on Monday for a week so we may see you around the area as we take in the sites.

Cheers

Jon

Hell FF, why don't you rub it in ! wink smile  Beautiful pic.  And here are some of us freezing our toenails of (among other things) furious

Yes, Fanny Bay is beautiful, don't forget to visit the old gaol, free and worth a visit and take your camera.

Jon, I think that TT (Boomerang ?) is the same one we stayed at, near Palmerston in a suburb called Virginia.  Palmerston Shopping Centre good, also a smaller one just south of Virginia with a good doctor.   Bit of a waiting list to see a doctor normally but we were lucky.  He even rang our doctor in Perth to check something out.

Gubbs, I would love to mate, but if I do, we may be lacking.

We went to the goal in '08 Vic and yes mate, its worth a look. Very primitive isn't it.

Glad you like the sunset, it is pretty nice, but no red.

We went again this time last year FF and they have added a museum bit and done it up a bit, could be worth another visit.

There is some history on the inmates in the museum, and also the gallows.......

Haven't seen Palmerston yet, we're now at Corroboree Billabong Roadhouse Caravan Park on the Arnham Hwy for a couple of days so we can go on a wetlands cruise they have there, then we'll head to Darwin on Monday.

Loved Kakadu, spent 11 days there & camped at 3 different campgrounds so we definately got our $25 entry fee worth out of it. Also though the camping ground fee was $10 each we got let off paying for 4 days  by the nice rangers so no complaints at all from us.

ps: The aboriginal rock art alone was worth it.

Cheers

Jon

hi FF & Hylda & John, my wife & I & a couple of friends from Parkes are staying at the Robbie Robbins Reserve. Would be nice to catch up for a coffee or a lunch at the Casino ( Monday is Seniors Day & there are Voucher specials etc. If you wish give my a personal email & I will give you m mobile. It would be nice to put faces to names. By the way yesterday (8th.) was the worst day up here in a month, but still ok by me.

Regards Terry

Were not really club or casino go'rs normally, more the tipple at happy hour type but we would make an exception to meet some fellow nomads though at 52 we miss out on the seniors day specials...bugger!

Cheers

Jon

FF, Robbie Robbins is on the Stuart H'way at Berrima, about 16ks from the City, (some call it the Pony Club). It's just in front of the goal. I have to be on my best behaviour. Hilda & John, the Casino is excellent value for the bistro lunches, you can take advantage of this for little damage.

Territory Wildlife Park is worth a day trip too, also next door Berri Springs......Plenty of van parking at the TWP. We stayed at the Tumbling Waters CP further down the road, booked in earlier, parked at the TWP and spent a good part of the day there (fridge on gas) then onto Tumbling Waters. On the way out we stopped at Berri Springs for a look, they have a little museum there now too. Didn't go for a swim though.

If you haven't visited the Territory Wildlife Park (right next door to Berry Springs which is also a nice picnic area and great for photo's, especially the scrub turkeys making their nests etc) it is not to be missed.  A free trolley cart service goes around the park if you have trouble walking, dropping you off at the different points etc, shown on the map you get.   We have been twice now and would probably go again we enjoyed it that much. Cafe on site or byo.

Beautiful spot there for sure Dunco. Isn't the smell of all the different foods cooking, just the greatest. smile

Go early, the crowds are over powering to say the least. They don't run all year round though.
