starting out

Wow, good to know we are not alone in our journey and thoughts. Will have to get off those silly facebook games and settle into some serious stuff like this wink

Our plans at present :We were leaving around Decemeber to travel around our brilliant country but have decided to send the bike across to New Zealand and tour around the islands for about a month. So looks like we'll head down to Tassie around Feb. Rick has worked out a plan for a track into the back of the L/C and has advice on its manufacture. All seems good. We will have to swap the Yamaha FJR for a Suzuki V Strom 1000. It is higher off the gound for dirt riding (not to rough lol) and smaller in all round size than the FJR. We are not "little" people, so not to look ridiculous we can't go to far down in size. The caravan it appears will more than likely be an expandable,  not pop top. Would have liked to go the toy hauler but we aren't wealthy travelers haha.

Keep happy and travel safely , Jeannette and Rick

You will love tassie on the bike, weather will be kind in feb, normally a bit windy. The roads in tassie have been designed for bikes, that I am sure of. Hellyer Gorge (50km from Burnie), Saddle Back ( near Scotsdale), Elephant Pass (St Marys) and dozen of other roads of simular vein. Road bikes of some sort for most of my life over there and still get a buzz from the throb of a bike.
cheers
