Is there a list of things to take when you pack your van and tow vehicle

Is there a list of things to take when you pack your van and tow vehicle , obviously it will vary on where you are going and what you are doing but does anyone have a general list of things to pack

We would appreciate the comments

Take what you'll need for a week, taking the weather into account. You're never far from supplies unless you're camping on the banks of Lake Eyre.

one thing we always try to remember are those ponchos you can buy in crazy clarkes and places like that they
are about 2.50 and so handy come in a small pack to dont take up a lot of room at all, and foil and paper towel
foil comes in handy instead of trying to fit things into bowls or containers in the fridge we use a fair bit of foil.

and the good old paper towel comes in handy ,i used to always forget the oil to cook with damn that used to make
me crazy we would get to our site and ide go to to cook and sure enough so now i always have a small coke bottle
with it filled for the next trip .

i must check that site out up above how clever people are to do things like that .

Bailey,

Fill the van & car with all that you think you will need.Go away for a short trip and when you get back you will know what you need.

Apart from commonsense things like spares for the tug and van, 1st Aid kit etc, its really personal choice.
Our caravan is getting a bit too full of things we thought we'd need and havent (yet) used! Its only experience that helps with these things, so go for a few shortish trips before you find yourself on the other side of the continent with/without the right stuff!

Hey Guys n Gals,

Ever since i started traveling I have always carried a marker pen with me, usually one of those white paint pens...

I pack everything I think I will need and while away if I use something I tag it with the white marker, that way when i get home again, I can see exactly what i used and didn't use, if after a couple of trips something hasn't been tagged it gets the toss.

The only things that don't get this treatment is spares and recovery gear etc...

something I learnt after many years carrying my house round on my back in the Armed Forces, take what ya absolutely need and nothing more than that which is absolutely necessary.

I must be a minimalist. As I live this compact lifestyle all the time, and have nothing in storage I have what I need AND use. If I haven't worn it, looked at it or used for the previous 12 months, I ditch it.
Clothes go to Vinnies or Salvos, and depending on the nature of the other stuff it most likely gets dumped.
The back of my truck is the shed, and like all sheds, it gets cleaned out from time to time as well. That's life.
