Lamb shanks

Got up this morning and threw some lamb shanks in the crock pot. The house just smells so yummy at the moment. Think I'll go to the pub, have a few cold ones. Nothing better than coming back and having sunday's meal all ready.

Just love my crockpot.

Mmmm, I love mine too Gordon. And lamb shanks seem to love it as well.

Gunna try doing them in the camp oven while we are away though. smile

I did a lamb roast, all the kids are coming over for the last supper before we head out. biggrin

I don't really get too fancy. I just put in a tin of crushed tomato, few cloves of garlic, copious amount of leftover red wine from the night before. A few spices of this or that and away we go. It's never the same but always fairly similar.

How come you have "copious" amounts of red wine left over from the night before - I'd be lucky to have a cupful left over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering if someone was going to pick up on that. I have a habit of always wanting to 'open one more bottle' then having barely a glass full and being ready to pass out. I should hardly ever actually open that last one. After severa bottles...one does not need one last glass.

Thanks for that Gordon. Just one thing I don't understand..... Leftover Red Wine? Is "leftover" a brand or a vintage or perhaps a grape variety I've not heard of?

OK...I'm going to change my recipe from 'copious' to 'however much red was left from the night before' :)

I am drinking a delightful cab sav presently that has a real blackberry flavour - so I am getting my daily fruit allowance, aren't I?

Oh do tell. Hey, I've just had a thought. Perhaps we should create a thread for wine reviews.
