36 HOURS AND DEFINATELY COUNTING

Hi to all, we are leaving here (Gold Coast) on Monday for 4 weeks heading west sort of, Goondiwind then St George Cunamulla Quilpie Longreach Emerald then make our way home, can't wait as we have owned the van for 12 months almost and have not as yet spent 1 night in her, have had to do some updates with her and have to work to get it all paid for, but now is the  time for a shake down trip. Has anyone else been this way lately as was wondering how the roads are after all the floods also wondering how the mice plague is going. Will keep you all updated as long as I can get internet coverage and would appreciate any info on roads. smile THANKS

Yahoo!!! Go for it.
I was out that way last month. The roads are sealed but RUFF!! I bounced for 5 days out there thanking my lucky stars I wasn't towing. Because when I'm towing I get bounce in stereo - the car bounces, the van bounces up, down, up, down .......
There was some roadworks in several places. Most of the washouts have been repaired to open surface waiting to be sealed.
I came home and washed the dirt of 4 states off Rosy.
Didn't see any mice out that way, but plenty of road kill.
Just take it easy, enjoy the scenery as the country is looking absolutely fabulous. The nights will be cold out there so be prepared to cuddle a lot to keep warm.
Safe and happy travels.

Have fun and hope your van is all you hope it to be. wink

Pulled into the rest area 3 ks out of longreach 4 pm yesterday and only just managed to get a space, must be well over a hundred vans here and many travelling the road both east and west. Take it steady on the roads, they are really rough, saw a few vans and cars damaged and my van has taken a little as well, safe journey.

So 4 days in on our trip and everything is fine, stayed 2 nights with friends at their property at Nindi Gully and today moved on through St George to a lovely bush camp at Bollon, site 828 in the camps 6 book, they appear to be doing quite a bit of work here to keep us caravanners happy, great spot that everyone seems to be enjoying.
