RACV reply

Hello All

Here is the reply from RACV regarding total care and restrictions on caravan sizes and my reply.   We need everybody to approach there motoring body as we can all be in the s**t if we have a problem

Dear Ken

Thank you for your recent contact.

RACV Care advises the caravan length refers to the entire length of the
 caravan - including the A-Frame.
Refer to page 19 of the ERA terms and conditions which were updated 1pm
 23/04/2011 on our website:

Hello Kish
Thanks for your reply but I have read the terms but my question and concern
is that the majority of vans being built today are in excess of 18' and
therefore are not covered by this total care and I would bet that the
majority of policyholders have vans in excess of this restriction.
I have been with RACV in excess of 30 years and now retired would expect
that RACV keeps up with the times regarding sizes. A lot of retirees live
full time in their vans and need to be covered which is why we are in total
care ?? maybe the care is there but not total which is what we are paying
for.
This needs to go to the Board for updating.
We are all members of this motoring body  and majority are not interested in
golf resorts, etc that we cannot afford
Ken

Good on you Ken, Keep at them.
Liked your piece in todays paper too. I can't believe Echuca has the dearest fuel in Vic, but it does. As you say, it works out better to buy your fuel out of town, and not that far away, while shopping for cheaper items as well. Hence the local shopkeepers are losing sales while we shop elsewhere.
$1.46 for unleaded here and it never alters regardless of prices fluctuating in other towns only a few ks down the road.

Hi Ken, glad I read your letter - it has enlightend us. I would have thought the length was guaged from front of van to rear excluding the A frame. That would make mine around the 20 foot mark. I have a Spaceland 91model and serves us well when on the road. We are at a property in Julia Creek until October doing a bit of caretaking.

Which brings me to another subject of contention - fuel costs.

It's $1.74 for 91 octane unleaded here and $1.79 for 95. Go to Cloncurry and its 1.62.

It's a captive market here.

It gets better mate, continue to Mt Isa and unleaded is only $1.45.

Go figger!!

cheers

Terry

Hi all

The fuel in Echuca may be the dearest in Victoria but just up the road in Deniliquin they are always dearer.
Unleaded today is 149.9 l

Cheers Rastas
