RADAR;

Hi to all once again, we are almost back on the radar screen again, will be back home 24/6, then the big cleanup campain begins.

Our planed trip accross the Savanna way was not possibile due to a washout of the Calvert River crossing,the only way around was a 300kl detour of extremly rough conditions, gave that a miss.Travelled down  the Savannah to Cape Crawford, down the barkley to the homestead & accross to Isa,It took half a day to scrub the dust & dirt off the rig to make it livable for the rest of the trip home .

Once the cleanup & a few jobs are done its load the caravan & make a few more tracks, not sure where as there is always some where to go.

Cheers;

J & L.

Hi justcruisin, sounds like your having fun anyway. The good thing about having to change plans, is you have to go back and do it again one day.

Any water damage at home during the floods? We thought of you at the time.

John

Hi JC, we leave on Tuesday and hope to do some of the Savanah. Leichardt Falls was on our list but it sounds like it may not be possible. Also Lawn Hill was another so I guess we better check before we leave mate. smile

Glad you are loving it guys. wink

John, we have been accross that top section a couple of time in the past, we were just going to have another look while in the area.

Yes, more floods & glad we were not there again as we missed the 09 flood as well.

Our home is well out of  flood reach so thats a plus when we are away as well. However the council are doing a complete rebuild of our street, kerb & Gutter as well, this was started before the flood so there will be a mess for some time.

 FIREFLY,your plans should be ok, the section that is closed is between Booraloola & Woolagoorang, Take plenty of warm gear as this cold goes all the way to the top, Barcaldine was 1.5 the morning we left, Caloipe was 2, ice on windscreens here this morning , good sunny days BUT a very cold wind all the way.

Firefly,
Leichardt Falls and Lawn Hill should still be possible. Also Kingfisher Camp is worth a visit. As I understand it, the only issue with the Savannah Way, currently, is the Calvert River crossing, in the NT.

The middle of Qld was already cold last month when I went to Moranbah. It may be a bit better on the coast, but I'd pack another doona and a coat.
Nice to see you back (and your front).
