Fantastic!   A good one to add to the brag bar.  And even better that you released it.

Congrats...

Congratulations, "good catch" but I must admit you had me worried until I read the post and you released it.

It ain,t me- its one of my clients.I would rather they landed them-it looks better for the business. It was the biggest fish he had ever caught, and we both agreed to release it. I must be getting soft. After 40 years skippering boats , I still like to release fish.I don,t see any need to kill more than you can eat.Too big to eat, anyway.

Yep, good on ya Bill.  Only good for fish stew in any case.  Used to have a big groper hanging around the old jetty at Lucinda Point.  Was there for years until some joker hooked it, shot it and then left it on the beach to rot for all to see.   Big Game Hunter I think not.   Also good to see that Maggie Island can still produce quality fish.

We do have our resident cod and gropers, and every year I seem to hook , and sometimes land, them.Got a nice spaniard today, about 8kgs,and have been getting some nice reds, usually about 2 or 3 kgs, a good eating size.Beaut weather here at the moment, and a few people about , too, which is good after the floods and cyclone. Will post some more fish pics as I get them.

Looks like we need to go out with you Bill, when we head up North. Went out on a charter in W.A. Everybody else on the boat caught giants. They all felt sorry for us at the end of the day and shared their catches with us. But its not the same as catching it yourself. Releasing it is definately on my cards.
