As some of you have been reading . We are going to Tassie for the Australian Kayaking c/ships in January , we have our accommodation booked for 2-12 at Sheffield . After that the Cook just wants to roam around for another 2 weeks , no bookings , just roam around , expecting to get a motel or cabin @ cp . From what I am hearing , you have to have bookings in Tassie @ that time of year , or is it just 'some' places . Enlighten me please . As I keep telling Herself that we are taking th tents , as we may need em .
we were in tazzie jan/feb 2009 and then it was hard to get motel/cabin accomodation unless you booked in advance but we took a small tent and some gear and used it when there was none some times we were lucky but it was fun, we spent 6 weeks just cruising around still didnt see it all, make sure you take some winter clothes when we were in hobart in feb it snowed on mt wellington and was cold but on the other hand when we did port arthur it was a real stincker that day, the scollop pies ross are a must yummo, and shefield is so great and what can you say about cradle mt but amazining, and the nut at stanley, we did a lot of national parks to . so have a great time . were going back to see what we didnt see before,
Take your tent and at least a good -5 sleeping bag, I use good -10 sleeping bags in summer because you just dont know how co;d it will get. I find the north west and west coast the best and very rugged, great rain forrests etc but I maybe a little bias cheers blaze
we hope to be heading there in september for 3 weeks ( if i'm still alive and kicking that is) but we have a camper trailer now and i bought free camps 6 seems to be the go, for us anyway
