Have tried to upload pic tonight but it just won't load - I have previously uploaded pics, so do not know what the problem is? I am starting a new topic, then clicking on Attach Image, browsing, select pic, then upload - have tried about 3 times - each time the same - taking far too long going on past experience - will try again tomorrow if I have time - glad to see a photo comp in the site

Thanks for letting me know. We had this problem once before and at that time it was an issue with our forum host's server. I've let them know what's going on so hopefully they will sort it out soon.
Good news, everyone! Our forum hosts have advised that the glitch which had caused photo uploads to time out has now been fixed. We're looking forward to seeing lots of entries!
.. unfortunately, I'm still unable to upload anything to this competition .. have no problems uploading/changing my avatar .. so have no idea why ! .. tried to upload from here too, but just a dark screen drops down ..
Hi Cindy, I still can't upload anything to the photo competition. I start a new forum, copy the pic from my picture folder, but then I cannot paste it. Am I going the right way about posting photos? If not, how do I do it?

No, don't have it. I finally found the browse button at the bottom of the page and have been trying to do it that way, but with no success. Just tags the photo as 'spam' , Wombat.
Thank you Wombat - well, it worked but still has a ? 'spam' tag on it and no-one else's has, so I'm very discouraged now. I would like to be able to add photos from Flickr, as that's where all my photos are, but don't know how to. Thanks for all your help.
Thanks for trying to help too Happy Wanderer. BTW, does anyone know how to delete the photos I've tried to put up in the comp? I really don't want them there the way they are.
Thanks everyone for your help. I really, really appreciated it. I ended up ringing a friend who uses Flickr and she talked me through the process. It didn't work at first, but I persevered, and I have since managed to upload two photos. They posted in the competition okay, even if they are still tagged. Cindy and I have been 'talking' though, so hopefully the problem will be fixed and the deleting done soon. Thanks again for all your help. xo
Are you sure its a spam tag Romy. Anything you start up yourself, re a new thread has a tag at the side, that is only saying it is yours and no one elses. We all have them if we are the one who has started the thread.
Hey thanks. I'm new to Grey Nomads, Happy Wanderer, but I thought I saw somewhere in the photo competition instructions that I had to 'start a new topic' to post a photo? If I don't need to do that, how do I get a blank posting page to come up so I can upload a photo to it? As for the spam tag, I did get a message early in the piece when I first started trying to post photos, that one (or some) of my photos had been tagged as 'spam' and had to be cleared by the moderator before being allowed in the competition forum, so I don't know what's going on. I seem to be able to get the photos uploaded okay now, but I sure wish I could delete all but the last 2 photos! Big, bad mistakes!
Also, when I click on the tag next to a photo I did successfully upload, an empty box comes up with a cross to the right of it. What's that all about?
Yes Romy, for the photo comp you have to start a new topic for each photo , that is correct. Haven't had a spam moderator thingee like you are talking about. Not sure what that would be and also not sure which tag you are clicking on that gives you an empty box with a cross on it. If I work it out will let you know.
Sorry HW. It's been a bit of a confusing time for me, but I think I know what's partially going on now. Thanks for your help. The moderator would be Cindy, or whoever is in charge of the site/forums. The tag is the tag that I've been told only I can see because I started the new thread. The message I received concerning spam, just said that that it had been 'tagged' (noted - but not physically bearing something visual) as spam and would have to be cleared by the moderator. I'm guessing that would be because I wasn't using Flickr right at the time. One or two of my photos must have come through to Grey Nomads with some sort of wrong numbering on it or in an unusual way, and that's understandable with what I was trying to achieve earlier in the afternoon and evening. I seem to be able to upload via Flickr now with no problems at all, but what I do need is to be able to delete the photos that didn't come through properly before that. I'm guessing Cindy will be onto that come Monday.
All you can do with those ones Romy is go into edit and delete the problem photo, then write in its place "Photo removed as not suitable" or something likethat. If its been there too long and won't let you delete you need to email Cindy and ask her to do it for you.
Thanks HW. I have written a note to Cindy about getting her to delete them, but I will do what you've suggested in the meantime as I really don't like them being in there like that. Thanks again. You're a mine of information for which I'm very grateful!
Are you travelling or home-based at the moment? We hope to get away for a short break again in our caravan in the June school holidays.
Maybe we're not meant to be able to Jimbo, but it would be good if we could. Sometimes I put photos up in other sites and then change my mind (woman's perogative I say) and want to delete them. I can on other sites. Maybe Cindy would look into that for us to do ourselves.
