Just wondering anyone has any lastest info on the Burke Dev road from Normanton to Cloncurry? We will be leaving home (Cairns) probably on Wednesday & will be heading that way. The Gulf Dev road has only just opened in time for the fisherpeople to get to Karumbaand & curious if the Burke is in a reasonable nick. Has anyone noticed how little info is available on the Qld main roads site in comparison to that of WA?
All the preparations are nearly done for the trip and yes I am so excited!
That's Qld for you. The roads are a secret for a very good reason. The Government doesn't invest much money into the infrastructure, including roads, so they really can't let anyone know how bad they are. Local knowledge is your best source of information. When in doubt, ask a local. The Councils, the local Police or fellow travellers would be your best source of information.
