confuse My partner Rick and I are "newies". We have observed this site and find it welcoming and very informative. A decision has been made to pack up, rent the house out and travel/work a little and see this grand country. We are presently looking at caravans and the towing vehicle looks like being a Land Cruiser. late 90's. We have a motor bike we would like to take as well.  So far Rick has come up with the idea of a rack design for the back of the L/C and taking the front wheel off, replacing with an axel to run along the rack. Ideas would be wonderful please. We will be on here quite a bit looking for your assistance and ideas as you dear people would be our best teachers. Thanks and safe travellingsmile

Hi Jeanette! we did the same as you over a year & a half ago (minus the motorbike) and have had no regrets.

My only bit of advice for now is if you are renting the house out & using an agent then keep in touch with them & hassle them to make sure they do regular inspections plus, when in between tenents, hassle them constantly to find a tennant or they can get slack & leave it vacent too long.

Hi Jeanette,we're doing the same at the end of the year, but instead of renting out our house we are going to put our daughter in to look after the house for couple of years
while we enjoy the good life.
Plenty good vans and tugs out there to decide on,Happy Hunting...

Hi Jeannette & Rick,

I am also the same as you guys, new to the wonderful forum & also hitting the road full time around mid year. I wished I was taking my trusty trail bike with me but unfortunately due to weights, restrictions and soforth I have decided to go without it.

You say you have a late 90ies Landcruiser, I take it that its a 70 series ute & hence the ability to load it into the back of the vehicle?

If there isnt going to be much room in the Landcruiser for carrying other items other than the motorbike then you are going to have to be very careful indeed when picking a van and you will need one that has a considerable payload.

I am also driving a Toyota Landcruiser 70 series ute, its no speed demo but it certainly is tuff enuf to get the job done & then some wink.gif
