Wake up thismorning & find a 9V alvaline battery in the middle of the kitchen floor, which has obviously exploded & shot of the top of the cubboard. Firstpic is were it came from & resulting debri. This battery was flat when placed on top of the cupboard about 6 mths ago. Bit of a mystery why it should sudenly erupt as there was no obvious signs of it leaking!
Lucky it did not start a fire,hope you have a smoke detector in your place.
The manufacture of batteries should have very pure components and any contaniments can cause what you have experienced.
Especially with the Lithium batteries but also the alkaline.It does not take much to cause problems and there was a spate of fires in laptops caused by contaniments in the chemicals in the batteries.
