Am only new to this online forum and looking for some advice.
We are looking to go touring in our new Bago and are particulary interested in seeing Lake Eyre in flood. Looking at different options and was speaking to a distant friend, was told flights are now available from Lyndhurst.. which sounds good as we are not looking to drive our new toy along the long segments of unsealed road.
We have been told they have re-opened the Lyndhurst strip.. which I think was closed about 10 years ago and doing flights to Lake Eyre, and bookings can be made in the actually Lyndhurst hotel itself! Can anyone confirm this so we can plan it a little better?? And if possible what company is doing them?? Have tried calling the pub but no answer!
Hi guys, TravelBugs information is correct. WrightAir will pick up from many different towns/locations and provide very good service.
I would say that from Lyndhurst you would be flown over the Southern section of Lake Eyre and most certainly it is a stunning sight, however dont expect to see the birdlife which is in Lake Eyre North.
Morning flights are calmer, though with the cooler weather it may not cause you problems if anyone is prone to motion sickness. Flying from William Creek the cost was $230.00 p/p for 1hr flight (ample time)

Well I did get onto the Lyndhurst Hotel, the company is actually called Aus Air Services. After speaking to the publican, he said they have re-graded the strip and have aircraft based there. The best part is the cost of the flights are the same as the ones out of Marree! Saves me the hassle of heading down the Lyndhurst-Marree road (which I'm sure is better than when I last went down it 20 years ago). The fella said the flight times were either 1.8hrs or 2.3hrs, and the costs were either $280pp or $395pp respectively..
We have booked a flight with them for early next month and will keep you posted.

The flight sounds like a great experience. It didn't look so good dry, well the eastern extreme of the lake when I went up that way on the mail plane out of Pt. Augusta in 2002. I may be up Lyndhurst way early next week, on way to Moomba. Watch out for the wheel cover.
The start has been a bit wobbly, probably caused by the long weekend. I was supposed to escort a load on Sunday arvo and get an early start yesterday morning, but the trucks didn't turn up until today. So I'm off tomorrow morning. There is plenty of work, so one job at a time. When I set myself up I thought I'd be happy with a couple jobs a month, but there may be more. I could be heading to Broome after Moomba. If this is the most I have to hang around, it's going to be good. There is always a bit of waiting around, so it's nothing hard. It's all good. Thanks for the interest. I'll do anything to do more miles to new country, and to revisit former destinations.
