Just a story about the trials and tribulations of the sat dish.
I had a satellite set up in my RV when I purchased it. The old Aurora system.Decided this 'U beaut' VAST would be the go.Free to air everywhere except WA.Friend in Goolgowi gave me a satellite dish he took down from the roof of his house. Was on my way to Upwey in the Dandenong Ranges near Melbourne.
The house was on the side of the hill so tried out my new system. NO signal.??????? Tried everything but to no avail.
Decided the satellite was below the horizon so gave up.
Travelling back to Qld stopped off at Goolgowi at mates place.Tried his satellite dish which we knew was working and hey presto I have 81 channels of free to air.
Bought a brand new dish online at satplus and it was here at home when I got back.
Now cannot wait till next trip to try my set up onroad.
Just have the problem of which of the 81 channels to watch.
If the sat dish wasnt bent or damaged the problem would have been the LNB (thing on the end of the arm) or it may have been a different frequenciy on the LNB, cheers blaze
Yup was the LNB stuffed.decided my mates House sized dish would have taken a new LNB but thought splashing out on a 65cm dish that flat packed was the better long term option.
If I won the Lotto the Oyster roof auto sytem would be the go.No messing about , just push the button and go.
you may find it's set up for overseas, my son changed mine for Australia.
you will also not need to connect to the vast decoder, just get yourself a 1 mtr cable from dish to finder and you will see the connect screen on the finder screen then connect the vast decoder with your normal cable.
you will need a vast decoder or and analogue decoder and a sat finder, like the one above, available from most satallite shops, if you want to know my dealer please PM me as I don't want to be accused of advertising, btw I live in WA and shop in Victoria, Phillip will post stuff anywhere and very quick service.
don't forget analouge is going to end sometime.
I run both types of decoder, because WA will not go digital until late 2013, my vast system is registered in Victoria so I get TV sig from Vic 2 hours eairlier than WA
so I need a signal decoder, plus all the other stuff? I have Austar, and have been told that it can be used out in the bush, with a gen and a sat dish(my mate used his at Limmen bight fishing camp , nr Roper bar, NT.
Hi Bill Yes bill your austar will work. Line sat dish at c1 with a 10700 mhz frequenciy lnb and away you go. Austar have no idea where there decoder is located when used cheers blaze
Who said they dont work in WA,"VAST" ours did. and Tassie . It didnt give us WIN, or GWN ,but the strong did that . And the Auspar worked ok as well.. Had so much to watch we didnt get time to holiday.......Well all most.... I picked up a twin LNB while in the west and it saves switching the input... Its the way to go, worth the trouble, could watch the local news each night and heeps more.... Imparja can go and jump now no more 50 dollar switch back on ripoff..All good .............
Mick looking at the vast you have set up, can it breath in that box , as they need to get air up through the box to keep cool ... only asking.. being a old VK3*** for 25 years..
I see things like that, it looks good other wise.. what switching did you use??

All the units x 4 have plenty of air flow, from the bottom to the top as they all sit on top of each other and air flows between all units.
When the systems are working the cupboard door is open. I've been checking the back of all units for heat and all seem ok. I was looking at putting an Air vent from the outside wall, but i don't think it's required.
The switch system I used was purchase from AV-COMM Satellite TV specialist 02 99394377
The unit is a S200 coaxial switch 2 way $32.00 + $12.42 delivery fee
Thanks RobnBev and also Wombat, for your comments guys
