Townsville to Katherine

Caravan & Truck photo.jpgHi guys, blankstare

We are travelling from Townsville to Katherine next Monday April 11th taking about 7 days for the trip across.

Can anybody please tell me what the roads are like, also would there be any forum members travelling the same way as it would be great to have a chat or two.

See ya

Hi Mick & Valerie,

I done Kununurra to Cairns back in October last year, had a good trip,
from Katherine I went to three ways, across the Barkly Hwy to Mt Isa, Charters Towers, Townsville & home
roads good all the way.
Enjoy your time in the West

I went from Charters to 3 Ways then south last November. The road is sealed all the way, but very wavy between Hughenden and Richmond.
There was some rain so I wouldn't leave the black top as the edges looked a bit soft.
I loved Richmond. The people at the park are nomads and really nice, friendly and helpful. The hospital was good too.
For a little township in the outback they do it nicely, and the water sport lake is creative. It's dinosaur country if you're into old things you may be able to relate.

Have a great time, Mick and Valerie. Stay in touch with the forum as you travell. A lot of us have travelled that road, and can give our thoughts on it... but the best thing to do is ask as you go. Anywhere you stop, just ask.. I asked at a servo up north, what the road was like to a certain place, and was told, "It is what it is". I suppose she was right... but an injection of politeness would'nt have gone astray!!! Enjoy...no matter what state the road is in. Just take it steady.
Cheers Dellie

Also by keeping in touch with the forum during your travels west, someone could come on who is in the same area and you will be able to meet up.
