Can anyone please advise a novice as to the best options for a roof top mounted boat carrier, has anyone experienced the "tinnie Tosser" or their equivalent.
We need something to carry a round a 3.5 mtr tinnie whilst towing a camper trailer
Also i'd like to hear from anyone who has used a "knock down" easy trailer for the boat which fits in its collapsed form at the end of the camper trailer
I have an easy trailer, I got it from a dealer in Melbourne and I think I paid about $750 for it. Had a bit of hassle with the shipping as they shipped it to Scarborough WA instead of Scarborough QLD. However, I am reasonably happy with it. Having said that, I only use it three or four times a year. It breaks down into 3 drawbar sections, then the axle - most of this I chuck up on the roof rack. I am going to fit the axle across the draw bar of the van. Then there is the wheels and skids lights and mudguards. (I have never taken the mudguards with me.) Assembly time is about 10-15 minutes -I dont rush. All in all given the price it is good value for money, having said that though, if I were to do a lot of travelling ie permanent Grey Nomading or a trip around Aust etc I think I would shell out for a "Little Bulldog", or a "Flip n Easy".

I made my own out of 25mm square duragal tube.Its strong, and has survived many rough roads all round OZ. My friend have Rino rackes, but , while they are good,they are expensive. A lot of new vehicles don,t have gutters, and are hard to fit roof bars to.Also, watch the new tie down laws as ropes are now not legal(in Qld at least). You have to use aust standard rachet ties downs. Don,t laugh- I have been pulled up and warned.If you want some drawings of barsfor your vehicle, give me some dimensions, and I will email you some drawings.

Hey Bill, I use a tie down and also a rope for added protection. How do I know my tie downs are aust standard? Hey had redclaw for dinner last night again... delicious... cheers Pete

Nothing beats the Custom Boat Loader in our opinion! We have had a 3.75 tinnie and now have a 3.95 and the ease of loading and unloading is great. Ours is the remote controlled one but you can get it drill controlled. The firm is based in Perth but has dealers throughout Oz. Look them up on the web, sorry I don't have the telephone number handy.
We also have a Dunbier fold up trailer, unsprung, which is carried on the back of the caravan. Never had a moments problem.

Welcome L and L. The electric boat launcher I've seen and helped use can actually be operated single-handedly with a remote control. I just watched for crocs in the Daly River, NT while the boat went in. There are a few versions of the folding, portable boat trailer. I've seen hundreds and never heard a complaint about any of them. Enjoy!
