Aranda towbars recall [tag]

any one with an aranda towbar [tag branded] fitted to nissan pathfinder r51 needs to get in touch with aranda as there has been a recall on that model. I had one fitted to my pathy in queensland in may 2010 and towed my van to queanbeyan and as i was taking van off at c/van park the hitch reciever broke away from crossmember -very lucky it never broke while traveling. They sent a new bar down for me and had a fitter come out and fit it n/c . check this one after every trip so far so good

Flasher, that's a bit of a worry and I hope the new towbar is better.
What's your opinion of the Pathy? Many 4WD "experts" pooh-pooh it, but I like the look of it, the size of it and its general specifications. I don't want to do any "serious" off-roading, I just want something that can handle dirt/gravel roads, national park roads and maybe a bit of beach work, towing a camper trailer.
Cheers, Tony

If I may jump in here, I don't know much about Pathfinders but several years ago I was on a tag-along to Cape York (including the telegraph track) and one of our fellow travellers had a Pathy and it performed flawlessly for the whole trip.

hi tonid i have had the pathy for a year now and have found it a very good drive had no problems at all
i have fitted a steinbour power commander which has increased the power and torque by 20% and am so impressed
with it i would not hesitate to buy another one I think they would be about the best mid size 4x4 on the market

Thanks for that . . . very encouraging. The fuel figures are very good indeed for towing a heavy van. The Pathy goes back on my wish list. As I said, I like the look of them and they have lots of room for all my junk (lots of which I don't need). Had lunch today with an old mate who was trying to persuade me to buy an X-Trail. Bit small for me. Happy travels. Tony.

I just want a little carification Flasher. Is it only the Aranda fitting to the Pathfinder?

I have Aranda towbar fitted to my Hyundai i30.
