Water gone bad

never had bad water in the van before but it appears that after being that hot in the tanks the other gay it now has a very undesirable taste. At vthis stage we are going to use 2l bottles and fill them at any clean point we can find. When we get to perth we will have to drain and refill with some thing like bicarb and see if we can sort it then. Just seem strage that the water is from home in tasssie and was perfect until it got hot
cheers

Mornin Blaze, perhaps the tanks need cleaning, there is some stuff you can get from caravan shops that will do the job, does seem strange that it was ok from Tassie then gone off now, not sure where you are right now but SA water is undrinkable, we always buy drinking water when in SA.

Milton baby Bottle disinfectant works well, as does household bleach.
With bleach use the plain (Chlorine) one, NOT the scented ones like lemon etc.
One cup per tank of water left overnight will do the job.
Then drain, refill and allow to stand for a couple of hours. Then flush a couple of time and refill with nice clean drinking water.
Cheers, ozjohn.

  1. Wombat what a load of you know what. There is nothing wrong with the water in SA. There is fluoride in water I agree. Its only your palette. After being over here in SA for a couple of days it taste ok. If you are having coffee or tea you have boiled the water . Coffee or tea has taken the taste away any how.

The water in the Adelaide Hills would give us the runs for the 1st week we were there, then it settled down. But if we went away on holidays and returned we got the runs again!  doh
That was in the seventies, do hope its better now.

Hi Blaze - Tassie water has a very limited shelf life, but I found if you add 20 litres of fine malt whisky to your water tank, it makes anything taste great...LOL LOL - Ozjohn has got some good tips, mate

Hi Blaze - I'm not a millionare but I was told you were, so the 20 ltrs of malt wisky should not be a problem, also could you let me & JRH know when you've completed the task so that we can come around for a very big tasting, even if you are in Perth.........
