Went and saw our Kedron today

and what a stressfull day it was.

We had decided to take the morining off work to go out to the factory for a viewing of our Kedron Caravan, which is now in production.  Left home just before 8.00 am.  We had to take two cars, planning to leave the camry close to where I work at Cannon Hill, so we could both go to work separately after seeing the caravan.

Ten minutes down the road, heard the traffic report, saying that a petrol tanker had rolled on the Middle Road overpass, and that Middle Road and Mt Lindsay Highway at Browns Plains was closed in both directions.  Quick thiking on my part, communicated to Mr D was that we divert via Crest Road, over Mt Lindsay, and through the back of Park Ridge to get on to the Motorway at Wembly Road.  I lost Mr D for a while, and decided to sit off the motorway until he cought up with me.  This was approximately an hour after we left home!cry

Just as he came into view, the camry made an awfull noise, which I am sure could have been heard from there to home, we discovoured I had dropped the manifold.

Thanks to a new fandangled toy in our Nissan Patrol (a Pioneer Avic Navi tool) we managed to find directions to a car repairer at Runcorn, who directed us to another at Acacia Ridge.  Mr D was now driving the extremely noisy camry and I the Nissan.

Left the car at the muffler repair guy, who said it should be ready by midday, so we continued on our way (by now it was 10.00 am) to Brendale to the Kedron Factory by almost 11.00 am.

This was the exciting bit.  The van now has a floor, some walls and the cabinetry inside almost complete.  Exciting! smile and will be ready for collection in four weeks. Exciting! smile

Left Brendale around midday, phone call on the way found the camry was not ready, so after lunch at the golden arches, Mr D dropped me at work by about 1.30pm.  Two hours of work later, camry ready, managed to wrangle a lift from a work colleague, who dropped me off at Acacia Ridge by 4.00 pm. picked up camry and on the road by 4.30pm.  Major road closures still in place in place at Browns Plains, but I managed to get trhough - and home by 5.30 pm.

What a stressful day!   But how exciting - we have now seen "Dunmowin" for real.

Thanks Gerty, yes it made a very stressful day quite bearable!

BGR, good to hear from you. Yes having now finally seen "Dunmowin" it does seem more like a reality. I will let Mr Dunmowin that you are travelling well. (PS: that BCEC place had one inch of water through the ground floor - permanents spent days cleaning out the mud - and have their first event tonight)

By all accounts Lorraine you should be very happy with your new Kedron van.
Friends from Yamba had one built also but wrote it off on their first trip, but went back & ordered another. Fortunately it was insured & they were not injured.
They have had a lot of fun since with no problems, & the van has a good sturdy chassis as we found out when I had to pull them out with a tractor after they got bogged here last year.
Take care mate & load & drive it carefully.

Great news for you both, despite today's hassles; we'll look forward to seeing you again soon - on the road!
