Tehcnical Advice Needed

Being  novice grey nomads, we need some technical advice.
Wanting to travel all around Australia, we will be using the internet, as well as wanting to watch tv including all the new channels, 7 mate etc. Weight being a factor for a caravan, how would we go about this?
Thank you any advice would be welcome.

You can use your computor as a tv, need to buy the program which includes the usb adaptor to tv antenna.can also record shows etc, not expensive.

Hi,TV on the go.
There is a new system up and running for mobile satellite of all the major free to air channels..The system is called   VAST     Viwer access satellite TV.
Costs vary and the set top box/decoder with an access card costs around the $290 mark.
You obviously need a sat dish and finder.I found a dish on on Ebay for $200 and the sat finder from Jaycar Electronics for $35 with a compass included.
Roughly $540 for the lot.

The sytem is available in the Eastern states but not in WA at present .Negotiations are taking place to enable the whole country to be included.

I bought my set top box and card from   www.satplus.com.au
I phoned and gave my credit card details and recieved the box by Express Post the next day.
Guy on the phone was efficient and polite.

Hope this helps.
Cheers
Trevor

You can certainly get a tuner for your lap-top. However there are also some rather light TV sets you can get. If you use your lap-top it limits your use of it as a computer as you both can not successfully watch TV whilst one of you are computing.

All the TVs now have digital tuners. Nearly all the modern flat panel TVs have HD tuners. The smaller ones do not have the resolution to display HD programmes as HD. Neither do most lap-tops. However you can still look at a slightly degraded HD programme on them.

When getting a small TV I recommend that you get one that operates from 12 V. you may not need it now but you may in the future. Any that have an external power supply that supplies 12 V to the set are suitable. For some examples, look at this site.
