my dad in hospital

Hi all,
sorry i havent been on much latley ,
but my dads back in hospital again,
he went in november for a week with a chest infection which turned out to be
Pneumonia , and has been pretty crook since, christmas time was lousy and
and now back in hospital again, still with a chest infection, he's had  2 blood transfusions
and is having a camera down his throad later in the week,
they think he's had blood in the bowels or something and has had reall low blood count, hence the blood transfusions, he'll be 88 this year.. I have never seen him so frail and skinny and just out of it.. yet he still wants to drive his van and go on a cruise. etc
I keep telling him to get better first, worry about that stuff later..

my sister has been very good , helping out when she can, but my brother, forget him, just concentrating on his own family,... gives me the ****.sss .... .....

might have to go into a home of some sort at some stage, but hopefully not, but will see how things go... im with him every day, even when he's home..

I just hope he gets better soon..

milo

Hope your dad gets well soon, so hard to see them when they are sick,
my dad always seemed to me as six foot tall and bullet proof,
he collapsed one day, (they were living in Caravan at my place)
was flown by helicopter to Cairns early morning and had pace maker fitted
made me realise that yes they were getting old and couldn't do what they used to.

Hi Milo you should book it yourself online and save the fees the travel agents charge, I am computer illiterate and I booked a cruise for my daughter and myself online. Because I booked it online I got a cabin credit of $200

That's great news Milo.  Check out what they do with the food, among other things.

The House I think was on Pentecost.  The Watermelon is self-explanatory.  Some of the Artwork was 3D.

Cheers,
Sheba.

Just make sure you look after yourself as well Milo. You need to keep your strength up. No good if you fall in a heap. We're thinking of you.

I don't know how you do it Milo. Good for you looking after your dad the way you do.
I wish my kids thought about me a bit more, but that's life.
I agree with everyone else - look after yourself. You're no good to anyone if you get run down and crook.
Give someone else, sister and brother some of the responsibility. He's their dad too. Even if you're brother is a bit distant, he may need reminding of his responsibilities to the other part of his family, including you.
Your dad must be very strong mentally to want to carry on travelling in spite of his physical health problems. That's a good thing, but don't let him go along. If he's still driving when he's well, he may need to be restricted to the car and leave the motorhome to you to drive so he can enjoy the trip.
It's a big job looking after a sick family member. Take care.
