Insurance

You were all so helpful with my questions earlier that I thought I'd push my luck a bit and try another one.

As I said before I'm brand new to this and I've only just bought my van - don't pick it up for another week and a half.  Added to this is the issue that I haven't lived in Australia for a long time so I'm not up to date on most things here.  One of the big issues I'm dealing with now is insurance.  I'm just starting to look at getting quotes for motorhome insurance (as opposed to caravan insurance) and I really don't know the best place to start.  Does anyone have any ideas or advice for me?  The van will be registered in NSW if that makes a difference - but it won't be 'garaged' anywhere because I plan on travelling constantly.

I don't think you will get better advice than Wombats , but make sure you have insurance before you take delivery

Hello
I got my insurance thru CIL and it was half the price of CMCA.
You need to shop around or go thru a broker

If you check the 'CMCA' web site you will see a menu at the top with 'insurance' on it. Give Ken Tame a call and tell them you are going to join the CMCA club and ask for a quote. They will give a 'full price' figure and then an approx. price if you join. It costs $44 a year to belong to CMCA and you will save a lot more than that just on insurance. I saved over $800. You also save $10 on Camps Aust. book. Apart from that I dont have much to do with the club - a bit 'clicky' if you know what I mean..

Hi there everyone.  Have started looking at your forum as we have just ordered our motorhome which wont be ready until mid April and would like some advice about insurance.  We see there are a few companies that deal with this but could anyone give us a rought idea what it it likely to cost.  We are both at the back end of our 60's, have never had an accident and currently have rating 1 with AAMI for our other two vehicles.  We are buying a 23ft Jayco.  We have done some touring but in the past have used our off-road camper/trailer and are now really looking forward very much to doing the same and more in absolute luxury (?).
