naming the van

hi one and all,
how many of you great travellers have given your van/camper a name.
we've had our dear old jacoy dove for a few years lived in her for over 12 months and are taking of again next year for a couple of years. i tried several names but none have stuck. there must be a list somewhere.
i want to write one on her, its such a big decision. or am i just being the eccentric that i am.smile

Hi Lynnken, yes Ive called her a few things from time to time , and the van as well.. just joking.. Had a name made up some time back ,but never got around to stiking it on..
"WEAVABEAN", Its still rolled up just waiting the time . We havent been every where just yet. Tassie is on the list this month . Then we can say it.......Took some time to think it up, so why hurry to stick it on..... This might just get me going in that direction..... Have seen some funny things written on vans and MH. Some I wouldnt want , some put a smile on ya dile..
Good question...

A mate of our son"s lived in a van and reffered to it as "the cave", personally, I dont think I could tow it around the countryside though....

Our tug is called FRED and our van is called FREDA.  I reckon behind every male there is a female who has to push to get things done...............laughing.gif

I suggested "The Palais" for ours but Mr D wasnt so keen. Have seen some amazing things written on vans, people have great imaginations.

Even if there's no actual sign-writing on the caravan/motorhome, its easy to have tyre covers made... eg. Cruising Granny's

I intend calling my The Happy Wanderer when I finally get it and putting on a decal of the Happywanderer vine with the purple flowers, my favourite colour. Thats the plan.

Like BobnBev, I have the stickers ready, but not on the "Dragon Wagon" yet.  Won't be long though.

Cheers,

We went 'through' a couple of suggestions of names before settling on 'The Wood Shack' for our van and our Patrol is 'The Beast'.

My van is still Roma. It's the "elegance" which is a bit of a contradiction in terms if applied to me.
There is no rule to naming your rig.
Naming my Landcruiser "Rosy" was accidental. I bought a couple of nice rose stickers to stick on her quarters and so she became Rosy. I then realised it was an abbreviation of my maiden name, so it was still relative.
Granny is what I've been since I became one, and the "Cruisin'" should be self-explanatory, as I drive a Cruiser.
It's really a personal character thing. If it's about you, the van or the tug, it's still a personal thing.
There are no rules, except not offending anyone.
I still like DILLIGAF, but according to the fine print on the sticker, someone may get offended.
If you don't know what it means contact me on personal message and I will explain.
Name your nomadic dream, refer to your former trade or business, your destinations and plans, something about your family name.
Have fun with it.

The last job I had before I retired was with a Transport Co , called Lickermans .
Bert got a new truck , but he left Berts Beast on the bug deflector .
Well we see the names on semis , pussy power - for caterpillar engines .
Hummin Cummins for Cummins engines . When I got to Brisbane for my 1st trip
in this Western Star - I got a new bug deflector & a new name -
Lickalotopus - well my truck had a Series 60 GM engine rated at 430hp .
Cummins only had 400hp , Caterpillar had 425hp . My Star went better than both .
Hence - It was short for Lickermans & outdid Cat motors .
When I retired , I was told to take "That name" with me .
So for 8 years it was on "old Inter" .
Also it had nothing to do with me being a Sailor.
That's my story & I'm sticking to it.

I might have had Lickalotopus on th front , but Herself would not let me put -
Wezyawillybin on th back . Some of the places we went , I would be coaxing
"old Inter" along , saying things like - c'mon baby Eucnduit . or , like -
ford - holden jibes - I would rather push my Jaco than pull a Corimal.
Hope you find one that fitz.

What do you mean about the sticker emails?
I have stickers on car and van, and I fly a grey (silver) ribbon. I've met 1 GN on my trip Qld to SA. Personal choice once again.
If you see me coming or going you'll know I'm a GN.
The stickers are really too small to be affective on the top of the windscreen.

Long long ago, there were swaggies roaming this land, and they called their swags Matilda. Nothing's new, we still like to name our prize possessions.
