WARNING ; 2.5 NAVARA.

If you have a engine oil light come on take it as serious, there has just been one at local dealer , 90,000kls ,completely striped the primary drive gear for the oil pump.
This gear is a very bad design, just a round collar with two very small flat sides that do the drive, these rounded off.

Is the Diesel mod or petrol or maybe both.

As the Pathfinder is only the station wagon design of the ute I suppose that they are in the same group

This was diesel, dont know about the petrol.
All these sort of things are a result of building light weight high reving , hight torque motors, it comprimises reliability & durability.

Also Keep an eye on your brake pads and rotors especially towing genuine wear out real fast

Ian, how long are the brakes suppposed to last? Mine had plenty of meat on them at 80,000 km. My towing would be approaching half that distance.

Peter, like all wear & tear items, it is controled by the drivers right foot,

These vehicles are a real worry.
You fellas go out and do all the homework to find the vehicle to do the job for you, and this sort of thing happens.
It seems the manufacturers aren't being very honest about their machines and their performance.
You buy a brand new, very expensive vehicle to do the job, and it lets you down.
I'm convinced I'll stick with my truck for a while yet.
Just like Just Cruisin', the oldies are still the goodies.
My diesel truck has done 304,000 kms now, and she purrs all day towing Roma @ 85-90 KPH.

I am driving a 1992 80 series landcruiser. I can find nothing to replace it with that I would feel confident in. Add to Navara diesel woes, fuel injection defects with the common rail system. A guy I work with has a D22 Navara, just had $8500 worth of warranty work done on the system, and it now blows so much black smoke you would think it was an old tractor.
