Funny thing that. We never did get to visit Paradise Dam.
No, this Dam was even more recent than that. In fact, locals did not believe that this dam would ever fill, but it actually fill to capacity before the wall was finished.
Here is another view. (no camping here for caravans BTW which is a shame, cos it is a beautiful spot.
Wyaralong Dam - kind of near Beaudesert. There is a sculpture Park there. We have been there but I couldn't remember the name so had to rely on Google.
Google also told me it was finished in 2011.

Gaylehere, spot on. Wyaralong Dam it is, near Beaudesert/Boonah, and yes there is a sculpture park there. Some pretty amazing pieces. Worth a visit
We lived in Jimboomba while the dam was being built, and often went out on open days to see the progress. There had been a lot of comments from locals about whether "Teviot Brook" would ever fill a dam. The rain started at the end of 2010 - does anyone remember that "rain bom" We had our house on the market, with a plan to set off on the road in July 2011. No one was buying houses, Brisbane was flooding, people were watching it all on TV. Just before xmas 2010, they decided to pull the diversion and the dam started filling. Filled in 10 days from memory, even before the dam wall was completed
The rest is history, we sold the house, hit the road, and have been back a couple of times to see the progression.
Your turn Gaylehere

Thanks Lorraine, I remember that "rain bom" very well and that particularly wet December 2010 and January 2011. Mum had passed away in December and I was driving between Toowoomba and Dad's place down in the valley very regularly at that time. I thank God I wasn't out on the road that particular day in January when all that rain fell.. It is hard to imagine people drowning in the streets of Toowoomba. Others lost their life in Grantham which I passed through each time. Our dams up here were at 10% capacity before that.
Anyways, enough reminiscing. Where would you find this boat. Another place that floods.
I know this is sideways, but you can see the boat in the background. In January 2022, this guy, the boats and the Woolies in the first photo were surrounded by water.

Hi Bill B. Yes, it is Maryborough in Queensland. Photos were taken a few years back. The sculptures, etc. was very interesting to see, but they did get "wet feet" when the Mary River flooded and they were on the river side of the retaining wall that was erected. Over to you. Cheers.
Distance depends on your own perception. When I was driving trucks long distance, when you were 400km from destination you were "almost there". Here is a brief story about the Condamine Bell to supplement a picture with no story.
